I am Italian/Welsh descended, and spent the first three years and eighteen summers of my life living with my loving, Italian immigrant, grandparents. This period was enjoyed with cousins and friends hiking, rock climbing, camping and exploring a virtual child's paradise in the
Allegheny Mountains in northwest Pennsylvania. My dad worked for Southern Railway and so I enjoyed traveling on a "free ride" every summer on trains to my grandparent's home. It was quite an adventure for a young boy and teenager and, I suspect, this may have jump started my lifelong wanderlust.
I lived with my mom and dad nine months each year in Atlanta, Georgia where I attended school, played all sports, learned to play guitar and counted each day until summer would come again and I could return to my beloved mountains.
I've traveled through every state in the union except Hawaii, the countries of Canada (all provinces and territories from the Yukon to Nova Scotia, including a wonderful stint as a photographer in Perce, Quebec on the Gaspe peninsula 600 miles north of Montreal, Canada. I climbed the 17,800+ ft. volcano Popocateptl and made an
attempt at 18,546 ft Orizaba. I was fortunate to have lived, literally, at the base of the Cholula Pyramid, which is larger in volume than the great pyramids of Egypt. The church that you see in the far distance was built atop the pyramid as a compromise to not destroy it. Spanish conquistador, Hernan Cortez agreed to this as a favor to his Mistress and lover Cholulatecan Princess, Malinche. The pyramid's network of tunnels runs for miles throughout the area. It is truly a wonder to see. My home was across the railroad tracks at the foot of the stairs leading down from the church. My friend, Dawn (pic below) and I used to climb to the tops of many of the structures on evenings when there would be a full moon with our bottles of wine y la mota and I would get to just lie there and listen to her wonderful and always animated stories about the dynamic history of what transpired so many years ago. She was such an incredible guide :)) What a great time of my life that episode was.....Ah, to go back in time once more.
My friend Dawn Carver & me outside The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco *********************Once upon a time a girl with moonlight in her eyes
Put her hand in mine and said she loved me so
But that was once upon a time very long ago
Once upon a hill we sat beneath a willow tree
Counting all the stars and waiting for the dawn
But that was once upon a time, now the tree is gone
How the breeze ruffled through her hair
How we always laughed as though tomorrow wasn't there
We were young and didn't have a care
Where did it go?
Once upon a time the world was sweeter than we knew
Everything was ours, how happy we were then
But somehow once upon a time never comes again************************************************************************************************************************************
I hiked and camped the ruins of Chichen Itza, Palenque, Monte Alban, Bonampak, Coba, Mitla, Teotihuacan, Uxmal, Tulum and other lesser sites. Mayan ruins at Tikal, Guatemala. Tikal is nestled deep in the jungle. Most people fly into the small airport but my friend and I took a small "people's" bus from Guatemala City. The trip took all day with many road checks by the army who was at war with Belize at the time. The trip was bizarre. An example was when I befriended a Guatemalan soldier who was armed and riding with us. We discussed military things and at one point he even gave me his machine gun to hold(probably NOT a part of his procedural rules and regulations). In fairness, like most countries, he was a young, un-educated, kid who had been conscripted into service and probably had no idea about the politics involved that had placed him there. Sounds familiar?
Belize (San Pedro and other Cayes), El Salvador; Honduras (Copan, other Mayan ruins, and many secluded villages).
I attended six different Universities including the University's of Alaska, Minnesota, Georgia, Colorado State and La Universidad de las Americas in Mexico earning M.A. and B.A. Degrees and I am a Viet-Nam era veteran. I've worked in a multitude of occupations such as: musician(guitarist, singer and song writer), oil & gas exploration promoter, lifeguard( actually helped save people without preaching), ranch hand(fed bulls and chickens), aerospace ground equipment operator and mechanic, asphalt layer(nastiest job on earth), house builder, carpet installer, personnel specialist, real estate investor(still fun), teacher, coach, principal, Nevada casino bouncer and briefly spent time with the Border Grizzly Project ear tagging grizzly bears with radio sensors in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in northwest Montana, grocery delivery boy, truck driver, artist/professional photographer, entrepreneur and probably several jobs that I don't recall as I am a child of the 60's.
Jack Kerouac and Herman Hesse are my favorite authors. Wandering and rambling have always been a passion and there are many places I still want to see.
Anyone interested in knowing me should listen, view and read the songs, artwork, literature and history of some of my dear friends that I have listed here.

Hi Robert, It's so many days since our last hello. What a lovely surprise to receive words from you. Thank you for your warm greeting. I hope all is well and life has you smiling. It sure is wonderful to get another earful of your music this morning... a wonderful start to my day.
Until next time... Wishing you the joys of the season, the company of good friends and family, and all the happiness on this Thanksgiving.
The new songs sound so wonderful. It's just WEIRD that you recorded White Freight Liner because we are recording that one as well. Ours is very different. It's bluegrass straight away...very fast.

Hi Robert...I enjoyed listening to your new songs. A cool & mellow rendition of "White Freightliner Blues." Sorry I missed you when you were passing through. I've been working on my Teacher Certification and did my last gig on Halloween. Gonna give it a rest to spend time with family and to write more songs! Hope your holidays are beautiful. Hugs, Susie
Hi dearest friend.
We've been on a holiday last week. We just needed to get away for a bit to change ideas. Our summer holidays weren't really great, lots of stress for work (yes, also during holidays), and then we had our cat who was ill from a very bad cancer, so we had to put her down. It was devastating for us, because she was our baby. We had adopted her from the street, so she was so special and thankful. Still now we can't believe she is no longer with us. Right after that, we literally ran away from home for 2 weeks to Scotland because we couldn't stand this empty house. We also played with John Jorgenson on 2 occasions: at the Tommy Emmanuel Guitar Festival in Rietberg/Germany and in Scotland. It could have been more, but we wanted ho stay with Mimi to give her all the love she needed in that time.
So now, we went to England for a few days, met up with some friends, and went to see Fleetwood Mac twice. They were soooo brilliant! A fantastic gig!
On Saturday we will go and see and meet up with Tommy Emmanuel. He is in Europe now, and we'll see him in The Netherlands, and in December Beppe Gambetta will be in the area, so we will go and see him also.
So great to hear that you travel a lot now and play so much. You are so right to do that, and we are really happy for you.
We send you big hugs, and lots of love.
Tania & Sandra
