FILM! I am an editor (and director when I can be), fluent in Final Cut Pro. I have completed a few fun projects in my day. See right. I also have an interest in video game design and artificial intelligence. Those are my focuses for my Computer Science degree. Computer games delight me.
Lost (I support the WGA, but I'll miss my LOST), Rescue Me, The Office, South Park, Nip/Tuck (season five is really bummin' me out), and most of all: Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Books
Generally I'm into non-fiction. I MUST recommend "The Language Instinct" by Steven Pinker. It is an amazing look into the constructions of language and our brains. I mean, c'mon. I say "shovel" and you think of a shovel- without any awareness of the intermediate mechanisms (air, vocal chords, ear drums, mental dictionary) that get you to think of a shovel. That's pretty fucking amazing, isn't it?
"This is a fast forward explanation about a non-trivial occupation called feature film editing: a form of mediation that permits one to deny hunger and sleep."
- Neil Sadwelkar, a description of "film editor"
I live in Pontiac, on a river that goes into Slyvan Lake.
I'm a filmmaker.
Despite what my pictures may suggest, I no longer sport my mohawk.
I spent May of '06 in Seattle on the sponsorship of the Red Cross (Seattle chapter). While I was there I directed and edited a documentary following the stories of two long term AIDS survivors.
I've also had the privilege of being guest director on the hit cult sci-fi Detroit-based series "InZero." I directed the 2nd-to-last episode of the season, in addition to being Lead Editor and Assistant Director on several other episodes.
I have a degree in Computer Science from Wayne State.
I own and run my own video editing business, call M-1 Studios. It is my full time job. That's M-1 as in Woodward Ave. My partners are Mike Madigan and Matt Peach, they are somewhere in my tops. We do everything from corporate video to commercials. Our main goal is to grow our business.
I homebrew my own beer. I'm okay at it, so it's hit or miss.
This summer Ducky (my fiancee, pictured) and I adopted a puppy from the Humane Society. Her name is Terra, and she is a Husky/Lab mix. She is adorable.
What would I take to a stranded island? A TV, DVD player, and my Netflix subscription.
Who I'd like to meet:
The Movie Of Your Life Is A Black Comedy
In your life, things are so twisted that you just have to laugh.
You may end up insane, but you'll have fun on the way to the asylum.
