Rob grew up in the church in southern Indiana singing the "old hymns". At 6 years old, he sang a duet with his brother in front of an audience for the first time. Rob states, "I knew at an early age what my calling was and I started preparing for it". Rob was saved December 4, 1981, and he says, “since then it has been a roller coaster ride, but God has never failed me yet”.
Rob graduated from high school in 1990, and from there he attended Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN where he majored in Vocal Music and Christian Ministries. While attending IWU, Rob began to get really serious about music. He states, "I was chosen as a tenor of a quartet called ‘One Accord’. We traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada to churches, camps and even a jail sharing the gospel as a public relations group for the University.
Rob began his solo ministry in 1994 and performed concerts all over the country until 1997. Rob explains, "In July of 1997, on my 25th birthday, I went to Nashville to attend Stamps-Baxter School of Music. It forever changed me, and I learned so much vital information during those two weeks. I developed great friendships, as well as learned so much about many aspects of Southern Gospel Music." On the recommendation of Mr. Ben Speer, Rob had his first professional audition with ‘The Palmetto State Quartet’. "It was a great learning experience for me", Rob states. Soon after, he served in the United States Marine Corps.
Since that time, he has continued to sing in various venues spreading the word of God's amazing grace and forgiveness (sharing the stage with such artists as Michael English, Brian Free & Assurance, The Kingsmen, Dove Brothers, The Anchormen, Jonathan White and HisSong). He also sang lead for ‘Ed Crawford and The Mystery Men’ . He competed in the 2007 National Quartet Convention Solo Talent Contest where he placed 3rd overall and was the highest placing male in the competition.
Rob’s debut album “A Little Further Down the Road” (released September 2008) has received rave reviews from both fan’s as well as DJ’s across the country. His first radio release “I've Been To The Well” was on the Gospel Music News Top 100 Chart for five months and topped out at 23. He currently has two songs being played on Southern Gospel's national radio station "Solid Gospel”, as well as approximately 800 other stations across the country, including the Cayman Islands. His latest single "If It Wasn't For The Cross" is currently 41 on "The SingingNews Top 80 Chart" up from 45 in the October issue. Rob says, "I am both humbled and excited to see what God is doing with the ministry He has entrusted me with. I'm just holding on for the ride".
Due to his life experiences, he feels his call is to share with people that no matter how bad things get in life we can still be used by God. He says, "The theme of my ministry is
that although we all have hurts, habits and hang-ups; with God we can have the victory."
Rob's ministry is best described by Psalm 115:1, which says...“Not to us O Lord,
but to You goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.”
Rob thanks those who have stood by him through the years and that are still praying for him on a continual basis. It has been greatly appreciated. Rob resides in Mitchell, Indiana with his wife Amy and their two dogs “Lucky" and "Runaround” and their cat “Popcorn”.
