Sounds Like
Cinematic soundscapes, Golden roaring 1920's meets Fellini marching band, dashing stories of bravery, drama and deceit, lovesong and wild, dyonisian revelry! Shadow and sunlight, 1,001 tinkling crystal glasses, bearing pomegrante wine, soft rain on a sunday afteroon, the cat woman's purrrrrr, powdered snow under foot, Brazil on fire! If Maxfield Parish's painting could talk....
When I was less than a year old, my dad used to bounce me on his knee and say "Feel the beat?!, Feel the beat?!" Thanks, Dad, I never stopped feeling it (the beat). I Love playing music, and spend a lot of my time doing so....Age five, I took up violin (Skrawk!) and when I hit puberty, I chose Sax. (they were out of harpsichords)... I also play mbira from Zimbabwe, Marimba, Didgeredoo, sing and vocal jam with my silly friends whenever possible. I have performed and toured with a multitude of wonderful bands and people and love music from all over the world, and in many uses. In High school/College I became fascinated with as many weird, and foreign forms of music I could find, and found it as a great way to explore cultures, so I got a degree in ethnomusicology (which I use daily, let me tell you).
I currently play with Vagabond Opera, and The March Fourth Marching Band, from Portland. I have lived in New Zealand, where I busked a lot and lived on a truly incredible intentional community called Tui, on the south island....
I am proud of my friends, value authentic and heart felt relationships and positive thinking.
Humor is the grease of life...
My first Video editing project..Vagabond Opera!
I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
A night of mbira by the river in Porto, Portugal, march 08. Accompanied by my lovely new friend, Carolina, a Brazilian who brought me a gift...
The music is traditional music from Zimbabwe, from the Shona people.
This song is an original I wrote, inspired from an Ayuhausca ceremony. "Grande amore, Open the door...."
It sounds a little like Mbukatiende in case you are familiar...
Haha, every time someone's said "I need a song stuck in my head" or anythig to do with music, I just start singing Ravella. I love it! I really hope I can come see you perform again =)
