We had last heard from him with Smallhouse and the hard bop notes of the mythic " Blue Note " records of the sixties with their Hammond B3 and Rhodes feel to them. A genuine initiatory journey that had , if it had ever been needed , shown the whole range of David Briot's contemplative mood and above all the subtle look he takes at things, namely a time , that of the years when Jazz was tinged with political and Civil Rights claims. The guitarist had indeed composed a travel album.
DB Project, for which David Briot had to make do with his own means to compose it, ( Do we need to come back on the state of music today? ) is again a travel album but this time to far more distant countries. This time, we are South of the Gulf of Mexico. DB Project "carries us away" to colourful South America. Excellent and fine collaboration on Buenos Aires rêvesolution and white limousine with Armando La Paz on the bandoneon and the piano as well. 14 subtle pieces. Some of them rythmical, others more soothing such as titles like Times and Dreams.
