Band MembersOn these recordings, I played guitars, piano, synths, and programmed the drums.
I also did the vocals.

These songs also feature the following people...

TRUMPETS:
Adam Kingham
Laurence Watson

SAXES:
Mark Cowley
Tom Lumley

BACKING VOCALS:
Jen Armstrong
Rachel Cook
Emily Lynn
Lucy Allen

THANK YOU to Ste Anderson for providing the original live drum parts, which I subsequently decided to replace with programmed MIDI parts.

This decision was made purely to adapt to a new production aesthetic, and has absolutely no reflection on Mr. Anderson's percussive ability.

As you can see from the 'album-trailer' video further down on the page... he funking nailed it.

   About Rob J Madin

..

"Refreshing, original talent is hard to come by at the moment, but there may be hope in 22 year old Rob J Madin. He is a musician from Chesterfield who writes and produces all of his tracks, and is multi-talented as he also plays guitar, does all the sythns, drum programming and vocals - with some help from others with horn sections and backing vocals included in some songs. All these sounds mixed together makes fantastic mixture of pop, rock and lounge music with a twist. It's fun, energetic and novelty, and all the songs are very well produced. Rob's influences include Elton John, Pulp and David Bowie, which reflects in his music as it seems quite 'Old Skool'. 'Amnesia du soleil' has an almost magical sound, and 'Someone Else's Mind' is refreshing and uplifting. So keep an eye out for Rob J Madin - a surprisingly unique talent."

-------- SANDMAN MAGAZINE (Amy Baker)

"Quality of performance adds stature to the idiosyncratic material, only partly classifiable as indie music-hall psychedelic jazz."

-------- LEEDS MUSIC SCENE

"Unique... engagingly demented."

-------- ADAM BUXTON (The Adam+Joe Show).

"A schizophrenic genius with too much time on his hands."

-------- THE LEEDS GUIDE

"It is refreshing to see new talent with so much energy."

Hello Rob.

Thank you for accepting. Everyone Wants Her (Now) is freaking amazing, love your synths, great mixing too all to enhance your great talent. The songs in your player really left me wanting to hear more of your stuff.

Keep on rocking (or would that be synthpopping?)

Hello,
We are playing the lovely Cardigan Arms on the 21st of March, being foreigners from Sheffield it would be grand if you could pop in and see us and bring a few other Leedsies with you if you are free.

Here are a few nice things people have said about us have a listen on our page and see if you like what we are up to:
Reviews:

"AN AMAZING LIVE ACT, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN" (Sandman Magazine)

"AN IMPRESSIVE SET FROM A BAND WITH A KNACK FOR WRITING CATCHY SONGS AND DELIVERING THEM LIVE AS WELL AS IN THE STUDIO" (Sandman Magazine)

"PROMISING SONG WRITERS" (Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6)

"THESE DAYS I FIND THRASH AND POWER POP A BIT REPETITIVE, BUT THIS WAS REMINISCENT OF MORRISSEY WHILE STILL BEING PERSONAL, I HEAR THE POSSIBILITY OF A GOOD FUTURE. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU COULD SUPRISE US ALL ONE DAY".
(Paul Gambaccini, BBC Radio 6)

Anyway it would be nice to see you there.

Cheers
Russ
