I was like a kid in a candy store the first time I laid eyes on a guitar. I had just turned seven and that's where my love affair began and continues to this day.
I recall listening and trying to play along to the likes of Jimmy Page & Carlos Santana way back then, but it wasn't till I was about 11 yrs that I just happened to hear a guy by the name of Edward Van Halen and a 1:20min "balls to the wall" piece of music named "Eruption" that set me on a collision course with destiny. Man, that diddy just blew me away!
Through my formative years, Edward opened the 1st gate, which allowed me to express myself by squeezing every sound that I could out of that "plank of wood with 6 strings.
Yngwie Malmsteen was the next guitar virtuoso that caught my eyes and my ears, his spellbinding command of the instrument pushed me to practice and practice until I could get those f&^%$&* arpeggios perfect.
At age 21, I decided I wanted something else, so I tried my hand at working real hard at my job, so I could buy my 1st home, unfortunately I let go of the one thing that kept me sane all those years, bought a restaurant, went broke and had to start all over again at the tender age of 29.
It was at that time, feeling the lowest I had ever been that Steve Vai found my ears, and ressurected my love affair with that most beautiful instrument that God ever created.
There is a language I believe that is conveyed through music that governs everyone of us, whether you get off or not on particular styles, isnt really that important, what is however, is how it makes you feel, and Steve Vai's music at that time of my life was a big part in my Recovery from that Dark place.
The word Uplifting comes to mind when I think Steves' music, but the word itself doesn't truly represent the impact that his music has had on my spiritual state of well being.
So here I am, I have re-organised my whole life to speak my truth, I've slowly figured out that it is all about LOVE, so I am embarking on this wonderful musical journey, sharing it with you all, as I put my very 1st album together.
Over the coming months I will be auditioning musicians in order to put together a "Kick Ass" band so I can bring this music to life on stage. In the mean time I will be regularly posting snippets of what Iam up to.
