Rob started piano lessons at age 6, and began performing publically at age 8 in the Philadelphia Archdiocesean Boys' Choir. In high school, college, and beyond, his love for performing and music was expressed in musical theatre. He received a Master of Fine Arts from the National Theatre Conservatory in 1995, but quit the theatre immediately after graduation to pursue music professionally.
All roads led to Los Angeles, where he spent a few years writing songs and seeking collaborators. In 1999, he recorded his debut independent CD, "Another State, A Different Country", co-produced with Will Ray of the Hellecasters. It was never released, but copies are allegedly available - if you ask nicely.
Dissatisfied with the record and with life in general, Rob plunged headlong into a deep depression. Emerging from that dark cloud, he recorded several demos which were also not released, but shared with encouraging friends. These received polite acknowledgement, if not wide-spread commercial success.
From those sessions emerged the self-produced CD, "Love Is", which told the story of Rob's recovery from depression and celebration of hopefulness. His ability to touch the hearts of listeners found full expression on this recording, especially the popular "All That You Are". The CD is available for listening and purchase at: http://cdbaby.com/cd/macmullan
In the middle of all that, Rob was introduced to screen and songwriter AW Gryphon, and together they composed over 40 songs. Since 2005, four of their songs have been used in the soundtracks of feature-length films, including Be My Baby and Rodeo Girl. There are new deals in the works, so keep your eyes and ears peeled when you're at the cinema!
Rob is currently working on a new full-length record to be released in 2007, and playing shows in the Los Angeles area. You can stay tuned here at: www.myspace.com/robmacmusic
