Rob's Interests
|
| General | Computers, music, movies, videogames, and writing. Oh yeah, and my wife and kids and stuff. I currently collect full-sized video arcade games, old videogame consoles and retro computers. I'm also interested in making this page not look like someone just shit HTML all over the place. | | Music | Everything from Anthrax to Zeppelin. My favorite genres are heavy metal, industrial metal, nu metal, hard rock, rock and roll, and some alternative. And let's not forget the awesome 80's, including (but not limited to) hair metal, and 80's/early 90's rap. A few of my favorite bands include old Metallica, the Beatles, Fear Factory, the Beastie Boys, Life of Agony, Nine Inch Nails, and Rob/White Zombie, among others. Lately I have been listening to a lot of System of a Down, Torture Killer, At the Gates, Godflesh and Winter. I currently own 4,000+ albums and try to listen to 2-3 new ones each week.
In the mid 90's I briefly interned at Backstage Pass, writing album and concert reviews. From 1995-1996 I ran my own print music magazine, In-Tune Magazine. For several years I wrote music reviews and served as an editor for a popular heavy-metal related music website. From 2002-2004 I ran Review to a Kill, another popular music and movie related website. In 1995 I recorded my first album, 'She Never Told Me She Was A Leper', considered by many of my closest friends to be one of the worst albums ever recorded. I still dabble in recording music at home, but have not recorded anything in over a year (stupid real-life).
All the music reviews (both new and old) I've written over the years have been moved to the popular review site REVIEW-O-MATIC.COM. | | Movies | I own around 2,000 movies and someday I hope to watch them all. My favorite genres are horror, B-movies, action/adventure, comedy and documentary. | | Television | Yeah, I got one. I have lost the battle with my son, so mostly I watch SpongeBob, Fairly Odd Parents, and Jimmy Neutron. When I actually have the remote in hand I watch a lot of TLC, Discovery, and Court TV. I also watch the Hornets whenever possible! | | Books | 99% of the time I read computer manuals, and when I'm not reading those I tend to read non-fiction (I rarely read fiction). The last book three books I read were Motley Crue's Dirt, The Google Story, and Extra Life. I am currently working on a book documenting my life and times as a computer BBS user in the 1980's. Earlier this year I had multiple articles published in the O'Reilly book Retro Gaming Hacks. |

Rob's Blurbs |
About me:
My name is Rob O'Hara, and I'm a 34 year old Senior Network Engineer currently contracting for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). I am into computers, movies, music, videogames, and writing. My website and blog are at www.robohara.com, but so many people keep referring me here so I decided to create a MySpace account as well. I graduated from Yukon High School in 1991, and married Susan Holshouser in 1995. We have two children, Mason (born in 2001) and Morgan (born in 2005). And again, that's ...
|
Who I'd like to meet:
I'm actually kind of hoping to get abducted by one of those MySpace sexual predators ... but before we go anywhere I'll need to call my wife and make sure it's cool first. Which it won't be.
