ULA, the first singing robot-girl in the world, created by the music experimentalist Vlad Kreimer, has got a lot of fans for only one year of ‘her’ existence. Dance electro-pop boosts spirits of the fans of electronic music all over the world. The robot-girl took part in many club parties, played solo and also welcomed Spanish people at the RNE Radio with her synthesized voice.
ULA’s first album “Just an Engine” combines a lot of musical styles: electro clash, future pop, disco-house, and original break beat. Citadel Records prepared a great present for DJs as well as all those who love 12 inch: now some tracks from the album “Just an Engine” are available on Vinyl. “Just an Engine”, “To be a Human”, “Way to Stars” (remixed by Ivan Markovsky), “To be a Human” (remixed by Major).
Having investigated all the possible ways of working with voice synthesis, Vlad Kreimer did almost impossible – let the synthesized ULA’s voice sing naturally. That’s why the voice on the album is not only unique but is also of creative and musical value.
During the International Music Festival MIDEM 2004 and 2005 ULA project was of great interest among international mass media (RNE Radio, Spanish national radio corporation; internet radio station M+M: “Rolling Stone” and “Trax” magazines) who noticed the uniqueness of the project and of the computer technologies used by Vlad.
Russian audience better knows ULA’s creator by his another project “THAT BLACK”. Besides his own albums THAT BLACK also works in close cooperation with other Russian artists. Kreimer made a lot of remixes of such projects as TATU, Mummy Troll, Vitas and others. He is also released at Koyote and Good Looking (UK). Together with Zemfira he recorded the song “Sky, Sea, Clouds…”, where Vlad was doing the arrangement and sound production. In the near future the artist is going to add his new album “Ocean” to Citadel’s ambient collection. On our web site you can read the critical overview of the album.
