ROB PILTCH (guitarist, composer) was born in Toronto, Ontario. He began playing in bands professionally at the age of 17, memorably with the Bernie Piltch Quartet and the Ted Moses Quintet. In 1979, Rob joined the famed Blood, Sweat & Tears band, toured internationally for 2 years and recorded NUCLEAR BLUES with them.



Rob continued working in Toronto as a session player in various musical genres with Canadian artists, including Hugh Marsh, Kim Mitchell, Shirley Eikhardt, Marc Jordan, Guido Basso, and Rob McConnell. In the early ‘80s, he released his debut album, BELLS (Umbrella Records) in partnership with Canadian jazz virtuoso Don Thompson. A self-titled solo album, ROB PILTCH, for Duke Street Records was released in 1988. Both recordings include original compositions.

As both soloist and sideman, Rob has recorded with many musicians on numerous television shows and film soundtracks such as Crash, IMAX films The Blue Planet and the new Hubble: 3D. He is one of the original members of the band NICK BUZZ, now recording their 3rd CD. In recent years Rob has performed and recorded with Colm Wilkinson, David Clayton-Thomas, John McDermott, Peter Murphy, Michael Kaeshammer, Molly Johnson, Emilie-Claire Barlow, Mary Jane Lammond, Louise Petrie, Steven Page, Sarah Slean, Sophie Milman, Art of Time Ensemble.
