  • Bio

.. .. ..Rob Reng.. has been tinkling piano keys since he was knee high, and if you see the size of the big man now you'll realise that was some time ago! Since then his broad musical skills and knowledge have been put to use on a variety of projects, from doors covers bands through freeform jazz funk improvisation, onto DJing in the late ninetees and more recently live electro-synth work, sound design and TV composition. .. .. Around 2004 Rob began producing Tech-Funk, and had his first release in June of that year, a track called ..‘The Granulator’.. on a West Records showcase EP. This was followed up with his much acclaimed ..‘Greedy Soul’.. EP, which hit the top 3 in both Tayo’s Kiss100 chart and the Vinyl Addiction sales chart. .. .. The relationship with ..West Records .. continued, and February 2006 saw the release of the sure-fire pfunk anthem ..‘Shook One’.., which hit the number one spot in the March 2006 DMC worldwide leftfield / breaks chart and received plays from top jocks across the board. .. .. In July 2006, Robs own label ..Ruff Dog Recordings.. sprung into existence and hit the ground running with the opening single ..‘Funk Down Low’.., a fantastic funk rock collaboration with ozzie MC NineLives the Cat. The track was critically acclaimed and received strong radio support with plays on BBC Radio1, XFM, Kiss FM and a host of regional stations across Europe, and earned the much sought after ‘Dancefloor Destroyer’ review in DJ Magazine. This was followed up with the club smash ..‘Plug Me In’.., which shot up sales charts around the globe and received a Breakspoll nomination in February 2007 in the Best Remix category. .. .. The big tunes didn’t stop there, and throughout 2007 Rob delivered a string of hits on West Records, Erase Records and his own Ruff Dog Recordings imprint, including the outstanding electro-funk excursion with DJ Thief ..‘Dope Pope’.. (another DJ Magazine ‘Dancefloor Destroyer’) and ..‘Makin Ya Bounce’.. which hammered dancefloors and airwaves continuously throughout the year. .. .. Into 2008, and the almighty ..'Superflux'.. earned 5/5 stars in IDJ Magazine, and his slamming remix of Wiesel & Captain Koma's ..'Nice'.. was tune of the month in Mixmags February issue. Building on this momentum, September 2008 brought the release of the club anthem ..'Solarize'.., which hit the DJdownload top 10 electro chart, saw plays on BBC Radio1, FBi, George FM, Kiss 100 and received huge DJ support worldwide. Every play of this track in the clubs has seen a stampede to the decks for those not in the know! .. .. Robs new material continues to push the boundaries of electronic music, combining elements of hip hop, funk, rock and thumping electro to outstanding effect. His latest production 'Future Shock' was a worldwide smash and has been included on both Ministry of Sound and Universal Music compilations. .. .. .. ................ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
