Here's some reviews and comments from the second album: CROSSING THE RIVER

'Rob's music is like nothing you've heard before. It's easy listening with edge and bite!'

'Every song has a story to tell - these songs actually make sense!'

'You quickly grow into his music... they feel like the standards of today, and maybe even tomorrow!'

'The opposite of shabby writing. The words make sense, the melodies work and the arrangements and musicianship show sheer experience'

'The song 'Tipperary' could and should become as much a standard as the original!'

'At first it's quite gentle and non-assuming... but gradually you get sucked in and realise that there's a lot going on here!'

A songwriter who respects his audience... clever musical ideas and words that ask to be followed'

THE QUICK BIO
Now based the UK and South Africa, Rob grew up in South Africa where he studied classical music while playing in stage shows, orchestras and military bands. After a reasonable teenage rebellion he let the hair grow and headed down the rock and pop route. Early bands include the funky Flagship, show band Wizard and the duo Anthem. ..

He moved back to the UK to join Wozani (also known as Jester Turtle) and later formed the duo Sample This with Tim Delaney. In 1996 he was selected as the first duelling pianist from the north of England for the new Jumpin Jaks venues springing up all over the UK. He now performs live in cabaret venues, clubs and pubs under the name Rob Russell.

Rob began song writing in earnest in the 90s and his first musical 'The Garden of Eden' was premiered at The Playhouse Theatre in Durban / South Africa in 1995.

He's the first songwriter to win the Tipperary International Song of Peace contest twice winning in 2003 and 2006. A finalist and semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition 2005 and 2006, he's had songs published in the USA and radio play in the UK, Ireland, USA, South Africa and Australia.

'Let Me Find Peace' was the winning song in the Tipperary International Song of Peace Competition of 2006. 'Turn Around' was a finalist in the 2005 UK Songwriting Competition while 'Haunted Eyes' was a semi-finalist for 2006. Click on 'lyrics' for words and more info.

Hello Rob,

Thank you so very much for the kind words about my music! =o)

Since the release of my two albums this past summer, I have heard from people all over the world with positive comments and a strong showing of support. It has been a wonderful experience knowing that my music is being heard and appreciated by so many people.

Right now is a critical time for me as an artist. I really need the help and support of people like yourself to help me promote my music and share it with others. If you can help me by telling your friends, family & colleagues about my music, that would be great! Just send them over to my official website, www.MichaelSamson.com.

Of course the best kind of support comes from purchasing my music. I am a full-time musician, and so I'm sure you can imagine the financial challenges involved. If you enjoy my music, please do consider purchasing my albums! My music is available in both MP3 & CD formats, and can be purchased at my Official Website, iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby & many others. I recommend purchasing directly from my official website, as this way all the proceeds go towards supporting my music! I also recommend the CD's over MP3's, because the real CD's have a beautiful Digipak format, complete with a large booklet, poetry for each song, photos & artwork.

With that said, thank you again for your friendship!
Please feel free to message me any time and do stay in touch! =o)

Sincerely,

Michael Samson

Jst popped back to listen a little. Yup!

That first track - Brilliance. The more it plays the more one realized how great that music really is. Love the piano. But the band is really doing a great job of distinguishing the magnetical brilliance and timber of that song.

Wishing the very best for all your work Rob

Hi Rob,
Thanks so much for your comment. I stopped by your page this morning and listened to your music ..all of which I liked very much. Ernio's theme is great to listen to. I love. the way it builds on to different levels throughout the piece and sounds both complex and simple at the same time.."Let me Find Peace" is such an amazingly lovely song and so beautifully crafted..( I can imagine it as part of a musical .. I dont know if it was/is.).. also really loved the unplugged version of the Tipperary song, the more acoustic style really suits the song..
I am glad to meet you on myspace and I wish you loads more success in every way.
