Rocky Graziano grew up in a family where music and laughter were as important as eating and breathing. His father, a well respected saxophonist and radio personality had never discouraged him from following his dreams, no matter what they were. Rocky's musical diet consisted of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Kenny Rogers that was fed to him by his parents. Led Zeppelin, Kiss and Pink Floyd had been dished out by his older brothers. However, he enjoyed feasting on the crumbs that found their way through cracks in the table: The Clash, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, David Bowie and Queen.
He found his way into and also started several Central New York based bands that played from Buffalo to Boston to New York City and all venues, theaters and dives in between. In March 2006 he set forth in a new direction - that of a solo performer. Rocky released 'The King of Prince Street' in August 2006. His collection of acoustic guitar driven songs as well as some experimental instrumental recordings earned him strong fan base and positive reviews. After a steady year of performing on his own he had begun writing and recording a follow up CD. With a more edgy and refined style and sound, 'Simple and Cold' was released in August 2007. The new songs now showcased Rocky's storytelling and his arranger/composer abilities. He emabrked on a tour across the Northeast and the Midwest. He also forged a songwriting partnership with Lisa Romano who appeared with him on the album's haunting duet 'Unbreathe Me.'
The thought of once again forming another band had first re-entered his mind when he assembled musicians to perform at the 'Simple and Cold' release party. In May of 2008, after several line up changes, the Bourbon Mothers, as they were officially christened began writing and recording Rocky's third album in 3 years released in October 2008.
Rocky Graziano has grown and evolved not just as a songwriter, but as a vocalist and performer as well. His live performances are memorable and energetic, and the Bourbon Mothers have become one of the premier original bands in Central New York.
