In spite of her youth ROCIO MARQUEZ is known as the “Southern Star” because of her outstanding flamenco voice, a gorgeously supple instrument that bears the essence and the echoes of the past, sweetness and versatility and a wide range of emotions.
Rocío Márquez, the new queen of mining cante, was born in Huelva (Andalusia) 22 years ago, she studied flamenco at the Fundación Cristina Heeren and Musical Education at the Universidad de Sevilla. She is the proud winner of different awards for her flamenco interpretations. Last year she won the Fosforito award in Calasparra and this year she received the Ciudad de Jumilla award.
In August 2008 Rocío Márquez won the Lámpara Minera of the Minas International Flamenco Vocals Festival (Murcia), the most important international Flamenco award.

Malgré son jeune âge, Rocío Márquez a déjà remporté de nombreux concours, récompensant ses extraordinaires facultés d’interprétation ainsi que sa voix puissante et cristalline.
En 2008, elle remporte la plus prestigieuse distinction de Cante Flamenco, la Lámpara Minera (Festival International del Cante de las Minas, La Unión, Murcia). Autres prix à souligner: Premier prix du « VI Concours National D’art Flamenco » (Villa de Mijas, Málaga), prix « Fosforito » au chanteur le plus complet du « Concours de Jeunes Flamencos » (Calasparra , Murcia), premier prix national de Cantes Mineros du « XIV Festival de Cante Flamenco » (Jumilla, Murcia), premier prix de la dernière édition du concours de Cante Flamenco de Alhaurín de la Torre (Málaga)…
Cette extraordinaire artiste de Huelva nous présente aujourd’hui son premier album en format Dvd, « Aquí y Ahora » (« Ici et Maintenant »), nous surprenant tout au long des dix pièces enregistrées en direct et au travers des différents styles abordés, nous permettant ainsi de savourer en son et image l’essence du flamenco le plus pur.
