F.Gillum (Fred) is a Maryland musician and has been playing, writing music and has been in various cover bands for 26 years. With influences in the rock, pop and alternative genres-and his eclectic musical tastes-he has proved to be a diverse asset to the music community. His accomplishments include a popular children's compilation CD, developed for toddlers and babies and can be purchased on CD Baby, Tower Records and BestBuy.com.and I Tunes, From the basics, to the development of sound recordings, both of his own and local musicians(in his personal recording studio in Waldorf Md.) he has collaborated with many musicians and songwriters.He is currently playing with Sam Grow.
A Song for Val was written for Valerie Lopez-Robinson, a 16 year old teenager that Fred knows personally and very well. Valerie was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme in February of 2006. Fred wrote this song with help from Andrea Romero and R.G. Mills on lyrics and is hoping to help bring in much needed funds to benefit Val and her family!
