This has nothing to do with any specific political parties in canada, nor is it an attack solely on the current government ruled by Stephen Harper. This will explore a few of the countless methods of the Canadian State to suppress dissent, and pursue business as usual. We are not for a new government; we are not for an old government. We are for no government. The title of this zine was chosen to be Rock Against Harper because the fuckwad happens to be the head of the Canadian State while this zine was written. Harper has continued the war on the poor, Indigenous peoples, immigrants, the land, and women. He has launched military invasions abroad causing much devastation. We recognize no heads-of-state to be legitimate or humane, especially those ruling occupied lands.
Turtle Island (North America) was invaded by settlers hundreds of years ago. Since their arrival, these imperialist forces of power had performed nothing short of genocide against this land’s indigenous peoples. No government has ever attempted to stop or even admit the unimaginable amount of systemic oppression against the Native groups from this land.
As settlers in this land we call canada, we are standing strong with our Native allies and we denounce this state. We will not be brainwashed by the colonial oppressors. We have no intention of pursuing social change through the State’s apparatus. We are against the tyrannical reign of all states and occupied territories. We are against capitalism with all its CEOs, presidents, managers and slaves. This land and its inhabitants are being drained of life, becoming increasingly toxic and lost in the filth of this civilization. This zine is to inspire through education. Let there be no more waiting for instructions to a life that has slipped further from our reach. It’s time to fight for all we have left: this land with all its critters and each other- our comrades.
It’s time to ACT! It’s time to LIVE! It’s time to WAKE UP! The time has come! We will live our lives free from the chains of capitalism and colonial oppression. Take this opportunity in your life in this fucked up world to act according to your will and desires, not according to the will and desires of state repression and capitalist greed. It is time to wage social war against those who keep us down, imprisoned, enslaved.
Learn to love, learn to think, and learn to be a Warrior. This world needs you to fight for it. We are hooligans! We are anarchists! They can’t keep us down forever. Freedom for all, life for all, and oppression for none!
so, i was reading the new zine, put it in my coat for later and then realized after we were halfway home that i didn't give back the new zine. I will say that it is a great layout. and good luck to the future plans. they sound rad-tacular.
Hi there Rock Against Harper first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
Many people wanted to use us in the future so if you were one of those people make sure you bookmark the link below so that in the event that we do close our myspace account you won't loose contact with us. I wish you the best of luck in your music career. Thanks again for being our myspace pal.

THE FALLOUT play straight-up, stripped-down politically-charged and socially-conscious punk rock that's got backbone and backbeat. Their first Insurgence release 'Dismantlement' finds these rabble-rousing veggie-punks continuing to fight the good fight. It's chock full of passionate and positive punk rock - timely, topical and on-target tunes that aim to both agitate and educate.
as you are probably aware, we've been holding youth discussion groups at various living rooms and retaurants in the brockville area as a means of increasing our public profile, and getting to know some of the talented and strong-minded youth in the area. the prblem however, has been lack of interest. we'd really like to see this problem solved. these meetings are free, and open to anyone. it's always an open-ended discussion. so for our next youth meeting, we've decided to do something different to draw some people out. we're holding an acoustic show in leigh bursey's living room next tuesday evening (tuesday, april 10th, 2007), followed by a meeting which we hope you'd stay for and check out. it should be a great evening of music and socialism. the address is 12 schofield avenue (apt.9), brockville. the music will start at 6:30pm, and the meeting begins at 8:15pm. more details should be available soon.
don't forget to bring a boat load of the comp to the kitchener show!! i'm sure you'll sell a handful and i'm sure we'll take a few copies to sell at our upcoming shows!
