In southwest Virginia, the name August has been floating around on live-show flyers for longer than most bands have been in tune.
Augusts’ sound is pop-punk, indie rock, pop rock, new-school emo, powerpop, and sometimes acoustic. If you catch singer Eric Gress with an acoustic guitar, sitting on his porch in the early a.m. hours, you might even hear a Tim McGraw cover, However, when playing with his band mates, guitarist, Kevin Hayes, bassist, Jake Roseberry, and drummer, Ryan Turner, he’s likely to sound like the newest band on the Vans Warped Tour.
August is set to record with producer Marc McClusky of Dorisland Studios (Hit the Lights, June) in April 2009 and have been very busy writing new material. The guys have molded their writing process into one that will make better songs than you have ever heard from the band before.
With a tour record that spans East coast, music on several Virginia radio stations, and an arsenal of new material, August is ready to hit the nationwide scene. br />
