What's That Sound's Blurbs |
About me:
This page is for friends, students (present, past, and future), and interested readers of the college-level textbook, What's That Sound? An Introduction to Rock and Its History by John Covach.
Professor Covach now teaches the history of rock music at the University of Rochester and Eastman School of Music. For ten years he taught his pop classes at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!). A conservative estimate would place the number of rock-history students Covach has taught so far at about 5000.
Watch the blog for Covach's comments and announcements, and join the MySpace group at groups.myspace.com/rockbookgroup.
This page is devoted to building a community of interested students of rock music; it is not designed to sell the book (which most of you probably have in some form already anyway). You can find the official published version at amazon.com or bn.com if you are interested. The publisher's website is wwnorton.com/rockhistory.

Who I'd like to meet:
Please join in the What's That Sound discussion group on MySpace (groups.myspace.com/rockbookgroup). This is a great place to chat about rock history, as well as promote your various activities and projects!
