UPDATE: RCOA 2009 – CANCELLED !!!
As we have encountered distrust and resistance coming from the majority, but we have still believed in our project, under the last circumstances we have hardly decided to CANCEL it.
RCOA 2009 – Postponed !!!
Dear ticket buyers, agents and agencies, fans and press and all other partners of the RCOA 2009 festival. Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a difficult situation, a situation that has never been imagined.
The RCOA 2009 festival is POSTPONED, due to the following reasons:
We have been working for over 9 months, faithfully and full of trust in the success of this event. We have encountered distrust and resistance coming from the majority, but we have still believed in our project.
We gathered more than 500 volunteers to help with the organization of this festival. We have all the support of the Town Hall of Borcea, the Town Hall of Fetesti, the Gendarmerie of Calarasi, the Police and the Ambulance. We had the best offer for scenes and the technical part of the festival. We distributed more than 60,000 flyers in Bulgaria/Kaliakra and in Romania. On the specialized sites we have over 150,000 unique visitors. We booked 25 hotel rooms for 4 days.
For almost one year we have believed that our work will reach an end and we will enjoy a super festival, despite all the obstacles. We built up a line up that can anytime compete in Europe: Immortal, Amon Amarth, Overkill, Edguy, Candlemass, Lake of Tears, Mayhem, Solitude Aeturnus, Einherjer, etc.
We paid all these bands advancements or/and flights 1st of August 2009. We bought flights for the US and all Europe through VOLA.RO agency.
All this for a successful festival, a festival in which we truly believed and put all our energy!
We had confirmed sponsors and partnerships with: Skol (the main sponsor), Sergiana Brasov (responsible for all the food points), Jägermeister, Pepsi. We had strong support from CITY FM/Music 1 Channel, wiht more than 300 spots spread in one month. Video spots can still be seen on TV channels. Metalhead, Metalfan and Metal Act shared over 200,000 visitors.
On Myspace site we had 40,000 unique views.
The media partners: Men’s Health, HMM, Sapte Seri, Radio Bucuresti, Auto Show, Moto, Port.ro, Bestial Records, Radio3net, Rol.ro, Musicmix, Radio Linx, Cartea De Nisip and our main partners also have intensely promoted this event.
Eventim promoted for the first time a local concept in Romania. We sold tickets in Finland, Spain, Israel, Italy, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, England.
Our festival was promoted in all the countries which Eventim sold tickets in, meaning almost whole Europe.
We were informed that at this moment we have 810 tickets sold, 300 of them being sold by the 28 Romanian bands taking part at the festival (10 tickets per band). There are 400 tickets sold in advance in Romania! These pieces of information find themselves in the ticket sale of Eventim.
But this is not the reason for postponing RCOA 2009. We believed so much in the public that we paid in advance almost everything necessary for the festival to take place.. Our plans are long-term; we want this to be a success, not for money, but for passion.
We have postponed this announcement because we have hardly decided to postpone it; the postponing proved unavoidable due to the fact that Immortal, the main headliner, has decided to cancel their show.
Under these circumstances, with only 810 tickets pre-sold and the cancellation of the Immortal show, we have decided not to risk. This cancellation has amplified the public’s distrust, a distrust lasting for 9 months and seems to have become certainty.
Amon Amarth, Edguy, Overkill, Paul Di Anno, Mayhem, Einherjer, Candlemass, Solitude Aeternus and other bands understood the situation and are still by our side. Therefore we have faith that these bands will keep their promise to the Romanian public and will perform in Romania at a later point!
We will announce the further date of the concert after consulting the bands.
The ones that bought tickets for RCOA 2009 can keep them for the postponed edition or claim the money at Eventim.
