To support the Rock Hill Bakehouse’s commitment to the local community and to provide another valuable attraction in downtown Glens Falls, Rock Hill will be extending its evening hours and opening its doors to musicians, patrons, and community members on Saturday nights for musical performances. The Saturday night Songwriter Showcase helps support Rock Hill’s existing weeknight programs and provide another event and attraction opportunity for community members. Thursday night hosts the successful Open Mic, from 7-9pm, which is a forum for all performers including, but not limited to, musicians, singers, poets, and comedians. For our musical acts, we hope the Thursday Open Mic could be an audition of sorts for prospective Saturday night performers. Also, on Friday evenings (**Saturday evenings beginning 9/20/08**), we host the Friday (Saturday) Film Forum, from 7:30-9:30pm, which showcases documentaries and films with a primary focus on, but not limited to, social and political concerns.
From beginners to amateurs, the refined and unrefined, we're interested in showcasing diverse, unique, local talent and having a good time. We would like to be a welcoming venue for the amateur, providing a stage where they otherwise may not find one. For the seasoned veteran, we hope to provide a welcoming, comfortable setting for the artist and their fans.
To support local commerce and ensure a thriving community, citizens must support local businesses. To support the community, businesses must support the local citizens.
