    New cases: An estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the US during 2009; about 1,910 new cases are expected in men. Excluding cancers of the skin, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women.

    Deaths: An estimated 40,610 breast cancer deaths (40,170 women, 440 men) are expected in 2009. Breast cancer ranks second as a cause of cancer death in women (after lung cancer).

    Early detection: Mammography can detect breast cancer at an early stage, when treatment is more effective and a cure is more likely. Numerous studies have shown that early detection saves lives and increases treatment options. Steady declines in breast cancer mortality among women since 1990 have been attributed to a combination of early detection and improvements in treatment.

About me:

What: Metro Detroit bands coming together to help raise money for a great cause.

When: August 1st, 2009

Where: The New Way Bar, Ferndale

WHY: To raise money to support a great cause! Mrs.Sauce (A.K.A. Becky Watson) is working to raise money for the Michigan Breast Cancer 3-day.

We will be updating information as things come together. We will be having raffles, 50/50 drawing, selling t-shirts & selling BBQ at the event thanks to Aldo's of Waterford and Highland House Cafe & Carry-out of Clarkston. We plan to sell discounted tickets in advance. Please come back soon to view our updates.

For those who aren't aware, the Breast Cancer 3-Day is an amazing 60-mile journey that helps mothers, sisters, spouses, and friends get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Participants walk 60 miles, over the course of three days, camping out at night with thousands of other women and men on this journey. Individuals participating in this event are required to raise at least $2300.

Too many woman have to fight this battle and too many Mothers, Aunts, Grandmothers, Sisters, and Friends have been taken from their families and loved ones. Let's all band together to fight this disease so that maybe our children and grandchildren won't have to.

Festivities will begin roughly at 9:00PM. Don't forget to show up hungry! We will be selling $2 burgers and $1 dogs with all proceeds going toward the 3-day walk.

    Party for LIFE is a nonprofit organization that sets up all kinds of benefit shows for local no-kill nonprofit animal shelters and other local charities.  

    We've even put together a Party for LIFE Compilation CD featuring local bands that we sell inexpensively at our shows to help raise money for the charity of the night.
