A blood alcohol level of .30, whiplash, someone else's car keys, and a false sense of superiority are just a few of the things you might leave with after attending a Rockinwood show. Rockinwood came together in the Spring of 2006.Guitarists Danny Coulter and Mike Walliser (Wally) started out playing covers of funny, dirty songs at parties about a year ago. TJ Machado later joined on bass, along with Erika Rickson on drums, and Kyle Tuttle on banjo. Owen Hunt was in the sister band The Leavers which at the time was on hiatus and allowed Owen to become the vocalist for Rockinwood. Wally, Danny and Owen are roommates and they just so happen to live off the street they're named after.
Now if you've heard of Rockinwood before, you know the boys stretch the genre-bending game beyond imagination. Songs run the gamut to everything from blues and country to math rock and hip-hop, but at the heart of Rockinwood is real kick-ass, soulful southern rock. But nothing, and I repeat NOTHING, beats a Rockinwood live show. Prepare to have your eardrums burned and your brain battered in beer foam, because Rockinwood is hellbent on having a good time and not remembering it in the morning. Whether it's about drowning your sorrows in beer and illegal substances, chatting up that hottie next to you, or heck, even fantasizing about Oprah, these boys have a song for you! And even though fun is utmost on the minds of Rockinwood, making good music is truly at the heart.
In February of 2007, the boys recorded a few tracks alongside The Leavers, for The IvyWood Collective E.P., Collect THIS. Rockinwood are currently working on their second release, (their first full-length album), tentatively titled Get 'em Drunk and Take Their Money, which they hope to have released sometime in June. - Charley Lee
