DENNY DEMARCHI BIOGRAPHY:

Denny DeMarchi is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter from Toronto. He has many years experience doing production, engineering and recording work in a recording studio environment, and is just as comfortable performing on a concert stage.

DeMarchi is the guitarist, keyboard player, and backing vocalist for Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries. In 2007 he toured with O’Riordan to over 22 countries throughout Europe, North, Central and South America, performing live in front of tens of thousands of O’Riordan fans.



AS A SONGWRITER:
Songwriting comes naturally and is Denny’s Forte. Denny has written well over 200 songs in the last few years. It is his hope that all the songs written thus far will be recorded in the way he'd like them recorded and be made available to fans who will truly appreciate and enjoy them as much as he does in creating them.


DENNY'S INVOLVEMENT IN THE 1990's WITH THE BAND ALIAS:

In the mid 80s, Denny helped his brother Steve and their good friend Freddy Curci built the sound recording studio, Platinum Sound, out of the DeMarchi family basement where most of the songs on the ALIAS album were written and recorded. He was also involved with some of the production and engineering work for that album.

Denny was the backing vocalist (singing "woe-woah" in the chorus) and keyboardist for the 1990 #1 Billboard hit song "More Than Words Can Say" from the ALIAS album.

Here's a piece of Trivia: Freddy Curci sang and recorded this song in Denny's bedroom at his Mom's house!



Denny played keyboard, bass and did some of the production and engineering work for the 1994 Freddy Curci Dreamer's Road album. He is the co-writer and producer for the beautiful ballad "Diamonds" in this album.

- How did your music passion begin?
- It all began with my father, sitting me on top of the grand piano and facing him when I was very young, maybe 1 or 2 years. My feet would dangle down, almost touching the keys, and my father would entertain me, playing his songs.

- Why did you choose the music and no other thing?
- I had no choice. It took me over. But I've had other jobs, too.



- Do you like reading, painting or writing?
- I do enjoy reading, usually magazines, and the Internet. I don't read fiction at all. I definitely spend a lot of time writing songs. That is probably my favourite thing to do. Painting is something I have not tried, but I might do that when I'm older if I can still see.

- Are there musicians in your family? Who?
- Yes, my brother, Steve DeMarchi, is a musician. He has played in Alias, Sheriff, The Cranberries and Dolores O'Riordan. My sister also plays piano and my mother always sings in the house.

- Is it hard to be a musician?
- Being a musician is both easy and hard. I can't think of a more natural way to spend the day, working on music and playing. I make music for the love of it. It's what I love to do. I don't think of it as a job.

- How did you become in Dolores O'Riordan's band member?
- My brother, Steve, introduced me to Dolores.

- When and why did you want to start a solo career?
-I have been very creative with music my whole life. I worked with a few bands over the years, but most of my inspiration hits me when I'm alone. It was never a conscious decision to "go solo". I really enjoy playing with others and the Rockizoid project does have other players on it. Now that I have my own recording studio, it's going to be very easy to continue recording.

- What's the meaning of 'Rockizoid'?
- A few years back, I was trying to think of a name for an email address. Rockizoid came to mind immediately. The name just stuck with me ever since.



- Which is your inspiration when you have to compose a song?
- It really varies depending on the song. Sometimes, it's a lyrical concept or a feeling/experience that motivates me to express it further. But, usually, the music comes first. It's like a radio playing in my head, but the music being played has never been recorded. I also like new things to play on the guitar or keyboard. It comes very naturally for me and the inspiration takes control of my mind.

- What do you hope of the future?
- My hope is for a Rockizoid tour. My other hope is for the world to find peace.

Denny is an amazing musician. He is currently playing both guitar and keyboards for Dolores O'Riordan, ex-vocalist of The Cranberries. I've known Denny for many years. He adds a lot to the music, with his talent and style of playing. Denny is an accomplished and talented musician.

Though I have known of Dennis and Steve DeMarchi for over twenty years I actually only had the pleasure to meet him and his Steve in person a few years ago. I think we spoke on the phone briefly back in the early 90's but we never met. Having said that I can say that my take on Dennis is he is a real genuine person "salt of the earth" and he is very talented and committed to his music. From what I know he has never given up on his dream and I think the Dolores tour gave him an opportunity to revisit his "mistress called music" and take up on where he might have left off back in the 90's. I think it's really cool that he is also able to share his music/life experiences with his older brother (who from what I can see) Dennis has a lot of respect for.

About Denny. his real name is Dennis, but I love to call him Dee, Dennyizoid , Angelizoid and angel eyes:-)at the end of this year I’ll be known him for 2 years!!! but he is that kind of person when you talk to, you feel that you know him for years. he is kind, honest, sensitive, smart, talented, down to earth, funny and has a big open white heart.. his heart is full of love to all the people.. I never felt he may be jealous of any other famous artists, he never compares himself to anyone else.. he is what he is...we all love him for that....he is sooooo connected to his fans and friends, a lot of artists miss that point, but he is the only artist I ever known that some of his fans became friends to him...I've always love female voices. though I listened to male voices like iron maiden, Metallica ,scorpions but none of these voices attracted me, till I heard his voice. .and that kind of voices is the best and perfect to my ears:-) he has the ability to sing in a rough tone like “Christmas Day”, and the ability to sing with a light tone like “Weaken Me”...and most of all the powerful romantic song " When You Go" with a such a sweet voice, makes my heart melts!!! he has such a gorgeous sad eyes, with a twinkle in the same time!! I really wish I could meet him one day....I believe he deserve the best and I wish that all the world would know about him and about his music

Dennis is one of the most unique & creative talents I have ever known! As a friend he has been loyal and sweet...His musical talent has ALWAYS blown me away! When we were In 8th grade, one day after school he played “Ave Maria” on the grand church organ...I just cried my eyes out...it was SO beautiful! He didn't read a note of music...but it was obvious he was a major child prodigy! His father was a maestro from Italy...so I guess it was in his genes! We had such crazy fun as kids...we shared such a offbeat humor as friends...laughing at 'in jokes' that nobody understood.. that was him...always an individual...never one to go with the crowd...I always knew that his path would eventually lead him to creating music...and beautiful music he is creating....and I am SO proud to call him my friend.

A friend asked me today what I think makes a good song....I said I don't know, all I know is when I hear it, I'll know it's a good song because it makes me feel good. And when the song comes to the end, I want to listen to it again because I like how it makes me feel. So I press the replay button everytime it ends and before I knew it, over 3 hours passed and all my work is done, and it didn't feel like work, and I'm still listening to the same song! Denny, your Rockizoid songs make me feel this way, they are like a special feel-good drug and incredibly addictive!
