Rockmasters and its legendary producer, Frank J. Guida, were instrumental in creating the "Norfolk Sound" of the early sixties. Artists on the Rockmasters, LeGrand, and associated labels included: Gary "U.S." Bonds, Jimmy Soul, Gene Barge, Joseph Royster, Tommy Facenda, and Daddy G and the Church Street Five.
Among the best known songs of Rockmasters include: "Quarter to Three", "New Orleans", "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Twist Twist Senora", "High School USA", and "Dear Lady Twist." "If You Wanna Be Happy" was the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart May 18, 1963 and is featured in the movies "Mermaids" and "My Best Friends Wedding." "Quarter to Three" was also a Billboard number one hit the week of June 26, 1961 and was featured in "Mask". The music of Rockmasters has been re-released in numerous compilations and covered by artists including: Chubby Checker, Bill Haley, Joan Jett, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Liberace, Wilson Pickett and many more.
