About me: Visit the Rock 'N Rod site.
In 1995, we began what we then called the Rock 'N Rod Nites series of car show events in Watsonville, California. May through September, once a month, we put together what started out to be simple graffiti night style shows. The shows quickly grew into full car shows with Trophies and all. We added a show in October and called it our Encore Night with no awards that show. At times we hit the 230 rod mark at the shows, but space was very limited. We located a new location, did preliminary arrangements to make the move for the 2001 season. In 2001 the Directors (Brother and Sister) moved to the Central Valley. Pam & Delton moved to Los Banos and Dennis moved to Hughson. With that we passed the baton to the Road Angels who took over where we left off. The name was changed from Rock 'N Rod Nites to Back in Time. The BIT 2001 season was a success, and season opener for their BIT 2002 series broke the 250 rod mark at the show. So the idea to move to the new location was indeed a good one, RNR just didn't get to try it out. In 2005, the Back in Time series came to a halt when the shopping center decided that the shows took up to much room. So in September of 2005, when the final BIT show came to a close, an 11 year run of Cruise-In shows in Watsonville became history.
The main website remains today, but no longer is devoted specifically to to the old Rock 'N Rod Nite shows. Today it's main purpose has changed to a Car Show listing calendar site as well as a place to hold Car Show photo albums that have become a popular item on RNR. The site is still a one person project without corporate support. So please visit an affiliate link or two, if you buy something from them, this then supports RNR and is definitely appreciated here. So, as you can see, Rocknrod.com is indeed alive and well after 12 years, it will mark it's 13th consecutive year online September of 2008.

The Roadhead Chronicles goes from the Cold War Fifties Pop Culture of classic cars and rock n' roll to the spaced out Spare Change Sixties of Vietnam and Hells Angels. Not the usual look at the era, instead It's written by someone who lived it and spent a life of being on the road from his beach bum days in Honolulu to the glitz and dangers of the Sunset Strip in LA, and his purple hazed and double dazed days in North Beach and the Haight Ashbury in San Francisco. The Roadhead Chronicles also looks at the history of Route 66, Roadside Neon Culture and old diners and dives!
Mike Marino writes in an offbeat and irreverant style with a beat and a cadence that is all his own. His writing style has been compared to John Dos Passos, John Steinbeck and Terry Southern and one reviewer likened him to Frederick Lewis Allen on acid! Readers and critics call the book "wickedly wonderful", "delightfully weird" and "automotively sexy."!!
