ROCK OF AGES FEST was an independent rock and metal festival that took place in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Sadly this event no longer operates owing to the event’s money pot having been exhausted over the last three years.
The event’s organisers would like to thank some of the brilliant people we’ve met over the last couple of years turning our event into a reality - principally Jim from The Rock Show (www.therockshow.co.uk) for his incredible dedication over the last three years in terms of both stage management, plugging us on his internationally renowned radio show “The Rock Show” and for being such a stellar guy who has given us much guidance and whose friendship has been of value beyond belief.
Other people we’d like to say an extra special thank you to include Tony from “Rock$tar” for his friendship, amazing artwork over the last few years, his wisdom and amazing music which has really touched us and is the kind of thing we love to support. Veronica (Ronnie), Spacefox, Moocow, Donna (AKA “Rockbabe”), Graeme and the lads from Stairway, Susan, Derek, Greg, Kobra & The Lotus, Alan, Chris, all the guys at Rock 24/7 Online, Vicky Bradley, the venue teams at BH2, The Asylum and The Palace who were fantastic supporters, Al, Greg, Julie & Rob, Stew Craner, Lance, Jan, Helena, Steve, Gerry, Richard- all of you - thankyou very much for your kindness and your honesty.
I would also like to thank the artists who have performed at the fest over the last few years including
Cato Street Conspiracy + Kitty Hudson + Trashtown Thrillers + Karn8 + Drugdealer, Cheerleader + Praying Mantis + Obsidian Rain + The Infamous + Lost Transmission + Knock Out Kaine, Kobra & The Lotus + Reign of Sirius + Hot Roxx + Apnia +Inner Eden + Imperia + King Lizard + Dear Superstar + Marya Roxx + Blind Ambition + Roxville + Crimson Tears + Damnation Angels + Dirty Rose + Triaxis + Apparition + Aceldama + Ghost In Mirrors + Some Kinda Mushroom + Tygers Of Pan Tang, Waysted, The Gypsy Pistoleros, Burn, New Generation Superstars, Avenger, Tysondog, Angel House, Mr Fixit, Beholder, Blitzkrieg, Stairway, Liquid Sky, Steve Grimmett’s “Grim Reaper”, Fury UK, Psycho Wrath, Hanging Doll, Spiral Dive, Rock$tar + Heat-Ray + Girlschool, Dante Fox, The Satin Dolls, Fiori, Lost In Vegas, The Latch, Mr Fixit, Morph, Wolfsbane, Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden), Sacred Heart, Jack Viper, Fuckshovel, Melonfarmer and Daz Rigo
Sadly, having lost around £16,000 in the three years we have been putting this event together (including being screwed royally by several parties, including the person who booked the original festival dates into a venue that didn’t exist!) we have been forced to shut our doors owing to the money completely drying up - that despite crazy-mad efforts to get the events to sell. I would thus like to encourage music lovers to make a point of supporting similar types of events in the UK such as Firefest, Rockfest, Hard Rock Hell, Bloodstock, Hammerfest, etc;
We would like to apologise to parties inconvenienced by the way the 2009 festival turned out. Sadly our final year wasn’t the “bang” we hoped to go out with - mainly due to (A) the atrocious weather (B) the need to move bands performing on two stages onto just one stage (which caused a number of logistical and scheduling issues which were unavoidable) and (C) bands pulling out last minute for various reasons - some of which were, in their defence, unavoidable, and (D) suppliers failing to keep their promises including equipment suppliers of various types, which led to us having to spend additional money on premium short-notice hire prices.
At the present time, we are still wondering whether or not we will continue in the entertainment sector when finances straighten themselves out, but at this point it is highly unlikely.
Take care everybody. Stay in touch - hopefully our paths will continue to cross. We will check this profile on occasion, but not regularly.
Kindest regards
Steve, Rock Of Ages Fest
