RockStar 09 winners The Vistics set to get big stage experience:
The winners of RockStar 09 - The John E Vistic Experience - are the first band to be confirmed for the Glastonbury festival 2010 – the 40th anniversary of the world's greatest music Festival.
The Final took place over the weekend on Worthy Farm, the home of the Festival, in front of 4,000 partygoers. The evening was headlined by Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine.
Three Finalists were chosen from 24 bands – originally taken from several hundred entries – that competed in heats held in the famous Pilton Working Mens Club. They were Leeds act, The Daybreakers, London’s Strangefruit (featuring Jamie and Pete Perrett, formerly of Babyshambles) and the Bristol-based John E Vistic Experience. Judges included Glastonbury Festivals Michael Eavis, Rob Bozas from Realworld and Steve Tilley from music promoters, Kilimanjaro. The winners go on to play Glastonbury 2010 and record at Peter Gabriel's Realworld Studios.
Vistics lead singer, said: "We were overjoyed to win RockStar 09. The John E Vistic Experience has had a great 2009 so far, gigging with some great bands and working on our new album 'Modern Love' with producers including Paul Corkett, who has The Cure, Nick Cave and The Horrors on his CV. The opportunity to play a big stage at Glastonbury 2010 is the cherry on an already splendid tasting cake.
"Recording at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios will also be an awesome opportunity for us to really expand the scope of our new record in a world class studio. As always, The Vistics are thinking about making an Electric Symphony of Decadent Rock 'n' Roll. Hail Hail Rockstar 09!"

THE ROAD TO GLASTONBURY 2010 KICKS OFF AT PILTON WORKING MEN’S CLUB THIS MONTH
Tuesday 14th July...The road to Glastonbury 2010 kicks off at Pilton Working Men’s Club this month. 24 acts have now been chosen and are in with a chance of being the first confirmed act for Glastonbury 2010. A set at the world-renowned festival awaits the winner of RockStar 09, along with recording time at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.
The RockStar 09 heats will take place on: Friday 31st July, Saturday 1st August, Friday 14th August and Saturday 15th August. All heats will take place at the Pilton Working Men's Club, with the live final taking place at Worthy Farm at the Pilton Party on 4th September 2009.
The competition enjoyed an acclaimed inaugural year in 2008. In 2009 partners include MySpace and Nintendo.
RockStar Bands’ Kelly Sumner, said: “We’ve made quite an impact in just a year or so, and that really hit home watching Glastonbury this year. RockStar 08 winners, Major Major, had a storming debut and three of their fellow finalists: Sound of Guns, Urusen and Dead Like Harry also played the festival – which really is testament to the strength of the competiton.
“The 24 acts that have made it to the heats for RockStar 09 will all be thrilled, and rightly so, they have a lot to look forward to.”
The eventual winner will be announced as the first confirmed act for Glastonbury 2010, just as Major Major were for this year’s festival. Their frontman, Conor Clarke, reflected on his band’s debut: “I’m trying hard to avoid cliches, but it's hard: the mud, the tents, the sun, the cider, the crowds and the rain play such a big part I hardly noticed there were bands on. There were though and we were one of them.
“This was the highlight of our year, it was simply incredible, it's every band's dream to play Glastonbury... and for Major Major that dream has been realised.”
