Rock the Planet is a unique concept designed to unite the community through a series of benefit concerts involving the local youth. Through these concerts we hope to raise environmental awareness about our greatest depleting resource: Mother Earth.
The final show will be held on November 15th 2008 at the Arts Park in Young Circle from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. The event will include a program guide that features articles and advertisements from our performers, vendors, and sponsors in addition to a series of tips to help make a positive impact on the planet.
If everyone you knew took one small step toward thinking greener, the collective effort could make a massive global impact.
It’s been said for years that knowledge is power, but the challenging task is conveying knowledge to the masses so it can generate into power. Rock the Planet is based on the “Fifty Ways to Help” module (www.50waystohelp.com); which suggests fifty simple changes one can make in his or her daily lifestyle to reduce their carbon footprint. For example:
(14 of 50) RETHINK BOTTLED WATER: Nearly 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled, instead taking thousands of years to decompose. Buy a reusable container and fill it with tap water, a great choice for the environment& your wallet. (The EPA's standards for tap water are more stringent than the FDA's standards for bottled water.)
(46 of 50) USE COTTON SWABS WITH A PAPERBOARD SPINDLE: Some brands of cotton swabs have a paperboard spindle while others are made of plastic. If 10% of U.S. households switched to a paperboard spindle, the petroleum energy saved per year would be equivalent to over 150,000 gallons of gasoline.
(36of 50) CHOOSE MATCHES OVER LIGHTERS: Most lighters are made out of plastic and filled with butane fuel, both petroleum products. Since most lighters are considered "disposable," over 1.5 billion end up in landfills each year. When choosing matches, pick cardboard over wood. Wood matches come from trees, whereas most cardboard matches are made from recycled paper.
(50) SHARE: Take what you've learned, and pass the knowledge on to others. If every person you know could take one small step toward being greener, the collective effort could be phenomenal.
Whats up !!!! hey just wanted to thank Rock the planet for the opportunity to play for such a great cause. We appreciate everything. SEE YOU SOON !!! THE REAL EASY
