The Souls were a small, loosely-knit but distinctive social group in England, from 1885 to about 1920. Their members included many of the most distinguished English politicians and intellectuals.
The group formed as a response to the damper on social life caused by the political tension of the Irish Home Rule debate. Existing social circles were rent by angry arguments between proponents and opponents of the Gladstone ministry’s efforts in 1886 to bring about full Home Rule. Many people in society wanted a salon where they could meet without fighting about politics.
how're you doing The Souls? after 3 days of hard work we finally uploaded 2 new songs! You can stop by our page to hear them, we really want to hear whar you think of them! Thanks!
THIS FRIDAY LIVE AT MARY'S PLACE (9:30PM): Matter Of Fact / The Souls / Reflex
The rebel rockers from Oregon, Illinois, Matter Of Fact, join local rocker, Simon Brown, for possibly his last Mary's show with The Souls, and a local hip-hop artist, Reflex, makes history once again for this very special Good Friday event!
Oregon rockers, Matter of Fact, are still riding high on the success of their recently released CD entitled, No Destination. If you like to drink a lot while listening to rock, reggae, or the blues, you'll love Matter Of Fact live at Mary's.
Simon Brown of the local rock band, The Souls, is splitting town on May 2nd to pursue his musical aspirations on the West Coast. This could quite possibly be the last time you will be able to see The Souls live at Rockford's oldest bar in this lifetime. The Souls' past appearances on the Mary's live scene have been memorable to say the least!
Local hip-hop artist, Reflex, is bringing hip-hop back to Mary's with passion, and phenomenal dance moves. Reflex is heavily influenced by the king of pop, Michael Jackson. He does a dead on impersonation of the king of pop that is absolutely unforgettable.
Reflex had this to say about the upcoming Mary's event, "Once again another show goin down in History for Reflex. Come out to enjoy good live hip hop entertainment and dancing... Mary's Place is a great spot for local music and you'll be impressed with this one."
Matter Of Fact, The Souls, and Reflex, are extremely high-energy live performers that are determined to shake up the Mary's live scene!
THIS FRIDAY LIVE AT MARY'S PLACE (9:30 PM): Albert Fish / The Souls / The Moment (Black Friday Massacre)
Three headliners join forces to bring this edgy night of live entertainment to Mary's on Black Friday, America's busiest retail shopping day of the year. The event entitled, Black Friday Massacre, was put together by a juggernaut of the Mary's live scene, Fats, of the notorious hard-core punk rock band named after the serial killer, Albert Fish. The band has not played together for years, making it even easier to deliver the raw sound they are known for. Albert Fish includes local celebrity, Scott Ford, Fats, and many more of Rockford 's grittiest punks. Scott Ford has vowed that this will sadly be Albert Fish's last show ever.
The Moment will be opening up the night on Black Friday! The Moment's super high-energy live performances have made them one of the hottest bands in the Midwest. Their original unique style has catapulted them to the very top of the Rockford music scene. The Moment's music is heavy to most, but they manage to soften the edge with hooky vocal lines and pop dance beats. The group is still riding high on the success of their CD entitled, We Are The Plague. Eliott Porter's sound programming on We Are The Plague has got people dancing of all age groups and different backgrounds. PJ and Eliott just keep cranking out the danceable hits!
Local rockers, The Souls, will be adding to the excitement this Friday night! This will be musician Chris Johnson's last performance with The Souls. The Souls are a serious power rock trio with a live show that will keep you on the edge of your bar stool!
This show is like a blazing comet, so catch it while you can!
You guys sounded great last night, it had been awhile since we saw you. Thanks again for having us. And when we say "having", we mean that handjob through the hole in the bathroom door.
Hey man, great show out at the Back Bar Friday. Sorry the crowd was thin, all ages shows without alcohol are kinda hard to promote [and even harder to play]. Anyhow, it was an honor, you guys FUCKING rocked.
