Rod Barthet est un artiste chanteur guitariste issu de la nouvelle scène en france, avec pour influence la pop, le blues, le rock & la World.

Rod Barthet a environ 1400 concerts à son actif : France, Allemagne, Etats-Unis, Macédoine, Grèce,Turquie, Arabie Saoudite, Mexique, Suisse, Espagne, Slovaquie.

Rod a 3 ans quand il assiste à son premier concert rock.

A 12 ans, il écoute du punk et du hardcore et un copain lui prête une guitare électrique japonaise. Il s'enferme dans le garage, met l'ampli à fond les manettes et gâche les premières années de la retraite de sa grand-mère. A 14 ans, il crée son premier groupe Final Blast (tendance hardcore) et crie son indignation face à la société bourgeoise de consommation.

A 20 ans, Rod suit pendant un an les cours du CMCN (une école de musique de Nancy) et décide de devenir professionnel. Il apprend l'harmonie, le chant, la lecture et la composition. Il passe des nuits entières à taper le boeuf avec les potes et fonde la première mouture de Rod & The Shotguns. Premiers concerts pour le fun, suivis de bien d'autres.

1991 , Rod a 21 ans, les trois Shotguns du moment s'envolent vers San Francisco (où Rod a un pote qui peut les loger) et découvrent Tommy Castro, Johnny Nitro, Harvey Mandel (Canned Heat), Ron Thompson et Jim Guyett (bassiste de John Lee Hooker). Ils jamment avec tous ces nouveaux amis et font circuler dans la ville une démo du groupe qui arrive chez John Lee Hooker lui-même qui les appelle pour leur proposer de faire sa première partie (qu'ils foirent complètement à cause de la pression). Mais Rod, invité dans la maison du maître, a pu, ébloui, discuter deux heures avec « Mr Boom Boom ». Rod reste trois mois à San Francisco et trouve quelques engagements locaux au Paradis Lounge, au Pit (sept spectateurs, mais un bon souvenir), et dans des clubs de Red Wood City (banlieue de San Francisco). Il va également jammer avec les gloires locales au Saloon et au Grant & Green.

 

1995, il retourne avec le groupe à San Francisco pour enregistrer dans le studio Alpha & Omega le 1er CD «Rod & The Shotgun's " Mr Alligator" » ( 50% français / 50% anglais) distribué par MSI. Entre temps il ouvre pour Roy Rogers, Joe Louis Walker, Jimmy Johnson, Bo Diddley, Wilson Picket, Alvin Lee et Mick Taylor !

1998, Rod a 28 ans et prépare son 2ème album, «Rod & The Shotgun's "Changer l'horizon"» 100% chanté en français, l'album trouve un accueil favorable auprès du public et des media.

2000, Rod croise le chemin de Boris Bergman avec lequel il composera 8 chansons de son album « Rod "Au bout d'ma ligne" ».L'album a un ton plus rock et plus acéré.

2002 Participation au 18ème "Rencontre d'Astaffort" organisé par voix du sud dont Francis Cabrel est le président et passe 10 jours à penser musique, manger musique, rêver musique tout ça dans une très bonne ambiance.

2003 Rod a fait une tournée de concerts au Mexique qui fut très appréciée. Rod décide de jouer sous son propre nom. 1er CD «Rod Barthet "Balconnet de France" » dans le style "Nouvelle scène française". Rod a aussi donné des cours de guitare à l'acteur principal Michel Subor pour le film " L'intrus", réalisé par Claire Denis avec Béatrice Dalle, Bambou et Katia Golubeva.

2004 Concerts en Slovaquie dans le cadre de la fête de la musique. Un concert a été diffusé sur la RAI (Italie) RSR (Suisse) sur France Bleu : Drome Ardèche - Bourgogne Franche-Comté - Savoie Haute-Savoie.

En 2006 nouveau CD «Rod Barthet " Je te promets" » le 2eme CD sous son propre nom.Dans ce nouvel album, Rod trouve sa plénitude, cela donne de vraies chansons, Cela sent le maturité et le style Rod BARTHET

Rod Barthet has played about 1200 shows so far, and is average mileage is approximately 25,000 yearly on tours around France, Germany, The United States, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Mexico, Switzerland, Spain, Slovakia.

Rod attended his first rock show when he was 3.

He started listening to punk rock at the age of 12 and a friend lent him a Japanese electric guitar. He started spending countless hours in his grandmother..s garage, disrupting her early years of retirement, then started his first hard core band, FINAL BLAST, a manifesto against mainstream values.

When he was 20, he attended the CMCN ( a music academy in Nancy ) for a year, then decided to turn professional. He studied harmonies, vocals, reading and writing music. He spent nights jamming with friends and started the first version of ROD & THE SHOTGUNS. The first shows were pure entertainment, then many more followed. In 91, Rod was 21 and the threesome flew to San Francisco where a friend of Rod..s could house them all. They saw Tommy Castro, Kevin Rusell, Johnny Nitro, Harvey Mandel ( CANNED HEAT), Ron Thompson and Jim Guyet ( JOHN LEE HOOKER's bassist). They jammed with those new acquaintances and some locals heard their demo until it hit JOHN LEE HOOKER..s tape deck. He called them and offered them to open for him; they sort of blew it due to the pressure. However Rod was invited to his house and talked to Mr Boom Boom for a couple of hours which let him, needless to say, extremely impressed. The band spent 3 months in San Francisco and managed a few dates at the Paradise Lounge, at the Pit ( only seven attending, but a good memory anyway) and in a couple of Redwood City clubs. They also jammed with local big shots at the Saloon and the Grant & Green.

In 1993 Rod put out his self-produced debut album entitled Let..s Boogie with lyrics in English and recorded at Mobius Music studios in San Francisco , which was supposed to be sold at shows mostly. Two years later he went back to SF with the band to record a second album at Alpha and Omega studios, this time with half the lyrics in French and half in English and whose title is Mister Alligator, distributed through MSI. Meanwhile he opened for the likes of Roy Rogers, Joe Louis Walker, Jimmy Johnson, Bo Diddley, Wilson Picket, Alvin Lee and Mick Taylor !

In 1998, then 28, Rod made his third album, all lyrics of which now being in French. The response from both the public and the media was very positive

The following year Rod met Boris Bergman who co-wrote 8 songs for his Au Bout de ma Ligne album. Rod appeared on numerous radio shows on Europe 1, France Inter and Ouï FM.

In 2001 Rod and Valérie Fauchet got in touch over the phone consequently to a classified in SACEM..s paper. A whole bunch of new songs stemmed from their ensuing collaboration, Boris Bergman taking part once again.

In 2002 Rod appeared at the 18th convention of Astaffort which was set up by La Voix du Sud presided over by Francis Cabrel. Music only mattered throughout the 10-day convention where the atmosphere was very friendly.

In 2003 New CD "Balconnet de France" With a universe suitable for Rod BARTHET, in the Pop blues styles. And makes concerts tour in Mexico which was very appreciated.

Rod also gave guitar teaching to the main actor Michel Subor for the film the intruder. Realized by Claire Denis. With Béatrice Dalle, Bamboo and Katia Golubeva.

In 2004 Concerts in Slovakia festival celebrates of the music .

A concert was diffused on the Radio RAI ( Italy ) RSR (Swiss) on France Blue:Drome, Ardeche , Bourgogne , Franche-Comté - Savoy High Savoy

In 2006 New CD and promotion tour. In this new album Rod find is maturity, the voice was affirmed, the compositions are ended. That gives true songs.
