With the release of his album ‘Snapshots’, 23 year old Rod Ladgrove has cemented his position as one of Australia’s rising singer/songwriters.
A blend of contemporary folk and rock, the songs from ‘Snapshots’ have already been featured on ABC radio in every state and territory, as well as JJJ. However, with the remastering of previously released singles, and the addition of four new songs, this album stands as a more ‘complete’ package.
Rod will be taking ‘Snapshots’ on the road this year, playing at the Adelaide Fringe and Mt Beauty music muster among other shows and festivals. Find out more at Rod’s website, www.rodladgrove.com.
BIOGRAPHY
In 2003, 20 year-old Rod Ladgrove began playing live music in Brisbane. Relying heavily on a back-catalogue of Beatles hits, Rod began by busking in Brisbane's Queen Street Mall.
However, in 2005 Rod based himself overseas. Whilst working and living his way through London and New York, Rod began to mould his style, taking in spots at London's acclaimed Virtual Acoustic Club and Notting Hill Gate.
Returning in 2006, Rod began releasing his work from a new hometown of Adelaide. Inspired heavily by the experiences and ‘aftermath’ of travel, Rod’s new songs worked as ‘stories’ in the folk tradition, whilst still maintaining a contemporary edge.
His first single, ‘Lonely Old People’, received nationwide airplay on ABC radio, and was nominated for the Q ‘Song of the Year’ award in the folk category. ‘Van Nguyen’, the story of an executed drug trafficker, received play on the nationwide JJJ network. Rod followed up this success with a series of Sydney performances and folk festivals in September 2006, as well as playing at Adelaide venues such as the Grace Emily and Jade Monkey.
With the release of ‘Snapshots’, Rod looks set to continue his rise in the Australian folk-rock scene.

Hello Rod, Thank you very much for your very kind message. That is indeed the Dakota in the background of my photo taken last September on a visit to New York City. Hey Congratulations on the Home and Hosed JJJ airplay! The song sounded cool- and you're gig was plugged on national radio! Catch up with you at the AFC Sunday Sessions...
Hey mate, thanks for the message about your CD launch. Bummer though, the youth group I run is on Saturday nights and I can't get out of it on the 12th. If I can get my hands on a copy before the 12th I can play it at Pulse that night though and launch it there for you (guaranteed to NOT be as big a deal as your proper gig at the JM). Oh, by the way, incase you're wondering who I am and why I added you, yeah a bit of a recent fan. Heard your stuff for the first time at Silos 07 and worked next to you to dismantle tents the next day. Was a pleasure mate. And thanks for the music. Grace and peace buddy.
Ah its a small world. Seams like only two years ago that we were playing a bit of guitar together at the Astor... did you stay in England long? Rach and I just went a few weeks up Scotland and then headed home. We got married, by the way! Anyways, great to see you doing well Rod, and Im really enjoying the tunes. Cheers, Earl.
