Rodney has been performing as a country singer and songwriter for only a few years. Rodney has been a Soldier in The United States Army for 16 years. He says, learning to play his own accompaniment several years later, while on deployment. "With all the time I had on my hands in the desert, I just kind of took up the guitar."
Rodney and his band, just had the honor to open for Entertainer of the year, Kenny Chesney. He recieved great reviews and had a truly wonderful time.
Members of Rodney Watts Band include two Evansville musicians — guitarist Keith Conner and bassist Joe Winner — and drummer Dan Dove, Fort Campbell.
Watts doesn't have a label yet, but he's written more than two dozen songs. Recordings of several play on country radio stations in Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas and Tennessee, including "100 Percent Cowboy," "Cajun Style" and "Coming Home,"
Rodney's video of "Coming Home," a song about a soldier's promise to return from fighting overseas, is available on YouTube.com.
Rodney has performed at military installations in the United States as well as in Korea, Europe and Saudi Arabia, and he has played for veterans groups and in the Grill for the Thrill barbecue contest and music festival, and he has opened for comedian Rodney Carrington in Evansville.
Rodney said
"I just hope to keep writing and performing for the soldiers around the world, just to bring them a little hope," His motto is Singing for the American Soldier! Rodney would like to thank everyone for all of their support and God Bless
