We are very proud to announce that CK Two's track Bees Rumble from his Sub Noises
EP has been nominated for the 5th edition of the Qwartz Awards in the Dancefloor/Clubbing
category.
Please support CK
Two and Rodoid by casting your vote on the Qwartz
Awards website from December 15th to March 16th.
Rodoid starts the year 2009 with a brilliant six tracker from Detroit based artist Monopole, whose music stands somewhere between, ambient, digital dub and electronica. Richard Sudney dissects and manipulates audio fragments collected during his long wanderings among various abandoned buildings in Detroit, his tracks thus being sonic excursions in the heart of the city, where everyday ordinary sounds find themselves sublimated.
Equipo
is back on Rodoid for our greatest pleasure, with a new EP composed of three truly beautiful tracks standing somewhere between electronica, dub and ambient, with subtle melodies and spacial atmospheres.
For our fifth release, we are proud to welcome French artist Humeka onboard. After releasing acclaimed EPs on [LesIzmo:r] and DEVi4ANT-D4NCeFLO0R, as well as a couple of neat remixes on Yuki Yaki and Spontan Musik, he offers us five excellent tracks full of fine electronic groove and delightful funkiness.
American artist choenyi - who has already made himself quite a reputation on respected netlabels such as Yuki Yaki, Random Access Recordings, Miniatura, Kreislauf and Underlabel - offers us 5 excellent tracks of what we might call psychedelic minimal: abstract textures combined with repetitive beats, resulting in hypnotic atmospheres that will either haunt your living-room or set your favourite dancefloor on fire.
After a number of excellent releases on Pueblonuevo, Equipo offers us a brilliant EP combining minimal organic beats and subtle melodies. A pleasant trip through electronica, dub and ambient territories.
CK Two is a German artist producing dancefloor techno with an experimental edge. After releasing an excellent ep on Cupido Rec, he offers us his Sub Noises EP in which the efficiency of the beats contrasts with the coldness of twisted audio textures.
The first rodoid release is a compilation of tracks from the Arteradio remix project we ran in May 2006 during the second edition of the Paysages Electroniques festival.
rodoid.org is a non-profit netlabel focused on releasing quality electronic music under a Creative
Commons license.
Although we don’t question the legitimacy of making money out of music and art in general, we strongly believe that one shouldn’t always have to pay for it, and that’s one of the reasons why we chose to make our music available for everyone to download at no charge.
Another obvious reason for releasing eps and albums in the mp3 format is that it allows us to break free from the financial constraints inherent to running a commercial label : by reducing the production costs to almost nothing (mainly storage and bandwidth) we can afford to put out music by emerging young artists without having to worry about how we will get our money back.
As far as style is concerned, there are no strict guidelines underlying our artistic choices other than those of our subjective tastes and moods, although we tend to concentrate on experimental-oriented music that manages to stay innovative without necessarily being tweaked beyond comprehension.
We are currently accepting demos, so don't hesitate to get in touch.
