Rodrigo Cuevas nace un 1 de Junio en la Cd. de México, México. El canto, la música y las artes siempre han formado parte de él, de su esencia y de la herencia familiar que conlleva ser hijo de “La Máxima Exponente de la Música Mexicana”, Aída Cuevas.
A los cinco años de edad empieza con sus primeras clases de música, estudiando el violín por unos años. Un poco más tarde toma por iniciativa propia el instrumento que ya jamás podría dejar a un lado, la guitarra. Y con la ayuda de su mamá y de su tío, “El Rey del Bolero”, Carlos Cuevas, desarrolla un aprendizaje autodidacta a la corta edad de diez años. A los trece, y sin dejar a un lado sus demás instrumentos opta por aprender uno nuevo, la batería; siendo Alfredo "el Duque" Velázquez (ex-baterista de los Amantes de Lola) quien le enseñase un mundo completamente nuevo en aquel instrumento por unos años. Rodrigo comienza a desarrollar un gran amor y pasión por las artes.
Con el paso del tiempo y contando con 16 años de edad Rodrigo Cuevas comienza a trabajar cantando acompañado de su guitarra en diversos bares y centros nocturnos de la Cd. de México, mostrando al público su privilegiada voz, musicalidad y además cantando todo tipo de géneros musicales, incluyendo por supuesto sus composiciones. Carlos Cuevas, su tío, le da la primera oportunidad de pisar un escenario profesionalmente, primero como elemento de su grupo, tocando las percusiones y haciendo coros, y más tarde de poder compartir escenario cantando a su lado a dueto y abriendo infinidad de shows del “Rey del Bolero” y de su mamá Aida Cuevas. Siendo éstas anteriores las primeras de muchas actuaciones que Rodrigo ha podido sumar en su corta carrera compartiendo escenario con cantantes y músicos de talla internacional tales como Rubén Blades, Juan Gabriel, Juan Luis Guerra, Oscar Stagnaro, Jetro Da Silva, Larry Watson, Eguie Castrillo, Gary Burton, Víctor Mendoza, Rafael Alcalá, Dan Moretti, Esperanza Spalding, entre muchos otros.
A los 19 años, Rodrigo ingresa a la prestigiada universidad de música: Berklee College of Music en Boston, Massachusetts, USA; donde se aboca al piano por un tiempo y más tarde de lleno a su especialidad “Contemporary Writing and Production” (Escritura Contemporánea y Producción). Obteniendo "Magna Cum Laude" Cuevas se gradua el 22 de Diciembre del 2005. Actualmente Rodrigo Cuevas radica la mitad de su tiempo entre México y Estados Unidos produciendo su propio concepto musical, escribiendo canciones y haciendo producciones para diversos cantantes y preparando su primer CD mismo que graba este año y que en un corto futuro saldrá a la venta.

Rodrigo Cuevas was born on June 1 in Mexico City, Mexico. Being son of Aída Cuevas, ”The Queen of Mariachi and Mexican Music” Rodrigo was born into a very musical family. Ever since childhood Rodrigo can recall his mother singing to him all day. This in turn made music and art in general a prominent part of his life.
When he was 5 years old he began studying the violin. After a few years, by his own initiative, Cuevas picked up an instrument he would grow to love, the guitar. Getting help from his mom and his uncle Carlos Cuevas “The King of Bolero”, Rodrigo developed a proficient knowledge on the guitar at the age of 10. At 13 he decided to learn about another new instrument, the drums. Alfredo “The Duke" Velázquez, the ex-drummer of “Los Amantes de Lola” taught him a whole new world on this instrument for a few years.
Later on at the age of 16, Cuevas began singing and performing his own songs in different well-known venues and famous pubs around Mexico City including a venue with more than 3,500 people. Carlos Cuevas gave Rodrigo his first opportunity to perform on a stage, first as an element of his band playing hand-percussion and as a background vocalist, then singing with him as a duet. After a few months Rodrigo opened all the shows of his mom Aida Cuevas and his uncle Carlos Cuevas. These shows being the first of many that Rodrigo has had the privilege of sharing the stage with international artists. Other artists Rodrigo has had the privilege of sharing the stage with include multi-grammy awarded artists such as Gloria Estefan, Rubén Blades, Juan Gabriel, Juan Luis Guerra, Oscar Stagnaro, Jetro Da Silva, Larry Watson, Eguie Castrillo, Gary Burton, Víctor Mendoza, Rafael Alcalá, Dan Moretti, Esperanza Spalding, among others.
At 19, Rodrigo Cuevas enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, USA; where he focused his time and effort to a new instrument, the piano. In Decemeber 2005 Cuevas graduated with Magna Cum Laude and currently holds a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music with a focus in “Contemporary Writing & Production.”
Currently Rodrigo Cuevas resides in Mexico / USA writing songs and producing music for other well known artists along with writing and producing his debut album, which he will record this year and will be available in the near future.
