Citado pela revista inglesa Mixmag logo na sua primeira edição brasileira como um dos artistas nacionais a ficar de olho, atualmente figurando na 59ª posição do TOP 100 da House Mag e também campeão do primeiro concurso de DJs da marca alemã Jagermeister no Brasil, o curitibano Rodrigo Nickel começou sua carreira de DJ em Portugal, para onde se mudou em 1992 e ficou durante quase 15 anos e onde também organizava e residia no mítico after hours Break-Fast no clube Europa em Lisboa, por onde passaram artistas como Chris Lake, D-Nox & Beckers ou Kasey Taylor e o qual também foi nomeado como o melhor after hours daquele país em 2005 para o Dance Club Awards, da publicação homônima, a Dance Club.
De volta ao Brasil desde janeiro de 2006,é presença contante nos line ups de clubes ao redor do país como o D-edge, Vegas Club, SPKZ em São Paulo, Deputamadre, Label Club e Chalezinho em Belo Horizonte, Vibe, Eon, Café de La Musique e Danghai em Curitiba, Bielle e Felts em Cascavel, Circuit Club em Florianópolis, Glam e Deseo em Camboriú, Maze em Joinville, Quartier Latin em Porto Alegre entre muitos outros, ao lado de Martin Eyerer, King Roc, Presslaboys, Phatjak, Khainz, Alex Kenji, Hauswerks, Niko Schwind, Xavi Beat , David Amo & Julio Navas, Tim Healey, Deep Mariano ou Gui Boratto para citar alguns, ou ainda em grandes festivais como o Universo Paralello, Tribe ou Tribaltech.
Desde 2007 divide seu tempo entre a organização da Decibel, projeto que atualmente tem residência fixa no club Vibe e que em 2 anos já conta com mais de 50 edições em cidades como Curitiba, Cascavel (Bielle), Maringá (17 Lounge Disco), Florianópolis (Circuit) ou Belo Horizonte (Deputamadre) e já apresentou artistas como Kanio, Gaz James, Sam Fraser, Kore, Tommy Jacobbs ou Gustavo Bravetti e onde também é um dos residentes ao lado dos DJs Hugo Miyamura & Daniel Costa.
Atualmente também organiza duas outras festas, a Lick My Sunday em parceria com a DJ Aninha (Warung), e a Über no club Danghai, além de estar começando com sua própria gravadora, a Origami onde irá lançar músicas de nomes como King Roc, Monoroom, Rick Nicholls & Asher Jones, Chris Llopis, entre muitos outros...

Born in Curitiba, Brazil in 1977, Rodrigo Nickels fascination with music developed early. Influenced by his older brothers, he was playing guitar by 11 and after moving to Portugal in 1992 he began to broaden his musical knowledge and it wasnt long before he was submerged amongst Portugals developing underground dance music scene.
A regular at all the parties Rodrigo took his passion of dance music to the next level in 2004 when he moved in to a house that owned a pair of turntables.
He was a natural talent and over the next 6 months he was djing at all the house parties around Lisbon. He made the transition to clubs shortly after this when he was invited by dj & promoter Ricardo Manaia to play at his clubnight at Pop Up Bar.
He was a success and his ability to read a dancefloor and then cater for its occupants is something Rodrigo is renowned for.
After starting his own club night Delicious @ Mood in Lisbon, Rodrigo became a regular name associated with Lisbons blossoming dance scene and he found himself playing alongside Portugals biggest names, such as Pedro Seph (Beluga Sounds),John-e & Gustavo (Stereo Addiction), Señor Pelota, Kamala and Kaesar to name a few.
In 2005, he partnered up with International Dj Chris Meehan (Aus/Vapour Recordings/Black Sheep) who was based in Europe for a summer and they opened "Break-Fast" After Hours which proved to be a huge success.
It wasnt long before all visiting International Djs were doing unadvertised, intimate sets alongside Rodrigo and Chris at their afterhours.
Andre Absolut (Swe), Asher Jones (UK/Rhythm code), D-nox & Beckers (Ger), Chris Lake (UK), Kasey Taylor (Aus), Karlos Elizondo (Mex), Steve Parry (3Beat Recs./Uk) and Tobias Beyer (Ger) all played alongside Rodrigo.
A feature at Lisbons major parties he has played alongside acts such as Son Kite and Minilogue and is widely regarded as Lisbons rising star when talking about the cutting edge of the cities dance music scene.
Returning to his country of Birth in early 2006 he has been welcomed openly by Brazil..s developing yet massive scene and has been invited to play at some of the countries biggest dance parties and clubs in the major cities as Sao Paulo, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte and Florianopolis in venues like D-edge , Vegas Club , SPKZ , Deputamadre, Club Vibe sharing the booth with names like Martin Eyerer , Alex Kenji , Presslaboys , Phatjak , King Roc , Kanio ,Gaz James , Hauswerks , Leeroy Burrel , Khainz , Tim Healey , David Amo & Julio Navas or Gui Boratto and also in big open air festivals as Universo Parallelo or TribalTech.
Nowadays hes been splitting his time between running his successful Decibel clubnights in the best underground venues around Brazil for the last two years, has just started another party partnered up with Warung Club..s resident Aninha and is also starting his own record label Origami, in which will feature some newcomers from around the world and some cutting edge artists like King Roc, Rick Nicholls & Asher Jones or Chris Llopis & Ecco.
A smiling face amongst a parties punters and a fresh talent behind the turntables, Rodrigo Nickel is a name to look out for and a person to make sure, when given the chance, you hear.

The already sixth Intact party offers a reason for excited anticipation for several reasons. On the one hand, there is the venue: After a break of one and half a year, the famous Hühnerposten opens its gates again! Situated very close to the central station, the extensive locality of this popular venue in Hamburg features spacious room for 2 dance floors as well as a chilly lounge area and therefore the perfect location for a great indoor party. But though Hühnerposten always used to be really popular, we don’t want to keep quiet about the fact that there has also been critics about it again and again: The sometimes uneasy and rude security policy as well as high prices for drinks left a rather bad impression at the one or the other. So it was our highest aim to solve these problems. And we are very glad that we have been successful: A new security crew and moderate prices at the bar will increase the value of the beautiful venue pretty much. Of course you may be excited also in a musical respect. A glance at the lineup will have a mouth-watering effect for both friends of the rather fast styles as well as lovers of progressive sounds: The French Polaris or the two gentlemen of Tegma from Sweden are just two highlights of a really coloured and entertaining musical program that will make the whole venue bouncing and boosting from powerful beats during the upcoming Intact party.
