Now if you didn't know this guy was from Birmingham and you heard his beats, we would say the first thing that you would associate his style with would be something straight out of the east coast of the USA. It comes as no surprise to learn that he draws his musical influences from the likes of Pete Rock, Masta Ace, J Dilla, and other associated Hip Hop legends . Roeg has already released his own six track EP on his own forth coming label FIFTH RISE RECORDINGS , watch out for other projects soon to be released ...
As well as being busy producing new material and releasing tracks worldwide, Darren also runs Soulthump www.soulthump.co.uk
which is a collective of Birmingham MC's, and DJ's focussed on pushing the more soulful side of Hip Hop. Other projects have seen him collaborate with MC's such as Soulbrotha from Texas USA for which he has produced the 'Ezeekiel Hannai'album for and the " I was made to love her " EP out in early 2010 featuring MKV from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.:Check out the Othello 'Lets Just' RDC remix music video:
Not being one to limit himself to any one musical style, Darren has also ventured into producing drum and bass and Downbeat and has had a signing to LTJ Bukem's COOKIN records and also enjoyed several releases on DJ Nookies Strictly Digital imprint as well as a release on the german atmospheric drum and bass label Camino Blue Recordings on the 'Silver Cycles' compilation.
We are pretty sure you will be hearing a lot more from his musical endeavours in the very near future on a string of forthcoming releases....The future is looking very bright for Roeg du Casq
