Guerilla group strike again!
We first herd about the Gothenburg Band Roenik last week. They raided a celebrity wedding with a guerilla gig at the Elite Plaza, the only 5 star hotel in Gothenburg. Yesterday they struck again. This time the Gothenburg city library was the victim!
It was the middle of the afternoon when the band simply strolled right in to heart of the library, plugged in their instruments and started playing. The band played for about 3 minutes, before the librarians managed to gather their wits together and move in. As they were thrown out of the building, Roenik received a standing ovation from hundreds of newly won fans in the library.
“We only counted on playing one song, but underestimated those librarian ladies, they nailed us pretty dam fast! They really were on top of their game, unlike the security at the hotel”, says the lead singer Niels Nankler.
The band threatens more guerilla gigs in the future and they argue, Nothing ever happens around here; We just want to shake the kitten from the tree, you know; break a few of the old taboo’s
On Friday Night the Band are playing at the Pustervik and this time no one will stop them.
“The librarians are said to be in a stable condition."

This is the Gothenburg band Roenik being thrown out of the five star Hotelafter their shock pr-coup. – It was Thursday night that Roenik stormed the hotel foyer of Elite Plaza central in Gothenburg and started playing their music. The hotel guards were there in less than five minute, after a small scuffle with the bass player they were thrown out. “It turned out more fun than we ever could've imagined”, says Niels Nankler, lead singer and guitarist in Roenik.
The Elite Plaza hotel did not call the police “We would normally report a this kind of disturbance. But the band were really great and we got his sorted out with out any trouble” says Carlo Mandini, the hotel manager.
Niels formed Roenik when he was17 the band has been together for nine years and is a well known name on MySpace. A couple of years ago they had a hit with the song "We could have been". Their influences are Pink Floyd and Radiohead amongst others.- We play some kind of mysterious space vibe rock, says Niels who together with bass player Joel Magnusson have been playing with top artist Timor Räisänen.
Ride, their full-length debut album, is due for released early 200 it was recorded at Nevo Sound studios in London by the producer/mixer Yoad Nevo (Jem, Bryan Adams, The Dandy Warhol’s, Pet Shop Boys, Air, Sugababes).
