Bruce Springsteen, Josh Rouse, Coldplay, Travis, U2, Counting Crows, John Hiatt, Ryan Adams, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Ron Sexsmith, John Cougar Mellencamp, John Mayer... Fender guitars...
And the best tv-shows ever; "My Name is Earl" and Orange County Choppers
Sounds Like
Well I guess it's gotta be a nice blend then of me and my influences... :) (Bruce Springsteen, Josh Rouse, Coldplay, Travis, U2, Counting Crows, John Hiatt, Ryan Adams, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Ron Sexsmith, John Cougar Mellencamp, John Mayer)
At the age of 15-16 I started to play guitar and I was lucky enough to find a great teacher that understood that I would never be a classical guitarist! One day he was a few minutes late and I sat plying some song I had heard on the radio for warm up... When I looked around he stood by the door and he said "There will be no leasson today, I think we will try something new instead. Go home and write me song!"
A bit surprised I went home and I sat down trying to write my first song. I remember it was quite hard. What do I write about... What chords should I use etc etc.
BUT within one week I had made a song. And I played it for him on the lesson one week later. He smiled and gave me some compliments and a few pointers. Then he said... "Well, for next week I want you to write me another song!".
I didn't... I wrote three!
This thing kept on, I kept writing songs and he would listen, give some opinions and ideas. After a while we also recorded some stuff and he took me and another kid under his wings and gave us our first gigs at some local pups.
1997 I moved to Gävle, about 180 km north of Stocholm, to study at the university. I knew no one so I guess I spent alot of time with my guitar and my music. I later on met some people loved music as much as I do (Magnus Björk, Alec Ahlenius and Erik Süss to name a few) and suddenly a new world with singer/songwriter gigs opened up before me.
As I see it no situation (things you expeience, see or hear about) is uniqe... For example: You move out, you move in.
You get a job, you loose a job.
You fall in love, you fall out of love.
People are born, people die.
Etc, etc
No matter what you experience, others will have experinced that or something similar as well. So what makes it interesting, is the reflections you make based on what happend and the way you tell the story.
My songs are my way of telling my story and I hope you will like it!
THANK YOU FOR VISITING MY SPACE ON THE NET!
Best Regards // Roger Eriksson aka Geemo
