Roger Hoover is an accomplished songwriter who writes and tours with the Magpies (myspace.com/magpiesrock, the-magpies.com). Roger began writing songs with now-defunct roots rockers the Whiskeyhounds in 2001. The Whiskeyhounds released three records, Golden Gloves, Panic Blues and Jukebox Manifesto from 2002-2006. The Whiskeyhounds disbanded and re-formed as indiefolkrockrevivalists, the Magpies. The Magpies are working on three records, the first is a re-working of early Whiskeyhounds' material, the second is a record exploring the depths of the modern relationship, and the third is a triumphant return to the roots music Hoover conjures.
"Golden Gloves" Is stillone of my favorite albums of all time. a friend gave It to me here in Detroit. I've passed It on to all my friends and everyone seems to love It. I'll have to purchase some of the magpies stuff soon.

Thanks for the add! I saw you play at the Northside last week. It was awesome! I love your songs. I had to leave early, long story. If yer ever lookin' for a crappy banjo player to pick with, give me a holler!
I can't wait to see you guys play Saturday. I am dying to hear Phonograph and The Rooster. So if you included those 2 songs that would make my night. And Almost Grown, but I hear you may not be playing that live anymore-please reconsider.
