| | Books | I love all types of historical (fiction) books, but as I am introducted to more and more Civil War historians, I may begin reading more non-fiction. However, currently I love to read Julie Garwood, Johanna Lindsey, Terry C. Johnston, John Jakes, and Heather Graham to name a few. I love to read about Scottish Highlanders and English gentry, pirates and cowboys. But mostly I like to read (and write) about STRONG men and women who handled what was dealt them and came out winners in the end. |

About me:
Hi all,
My most recent event, the Cass County Fair in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was my most successful yet! I sold out of every copy I had of TOMORROW'S PROMISE, and had to place several more on order. To say the least, I was very happy. And that was only from Friday night through Saturday! One couple visited my booth who had bought the full WHITE OAKS TRILOGY last year, and told me neither one were able to put it down and had come to the festival specifically to see me and purchase THE JOURNEY!

THE JOURNEY, scheduled for release in June, 2009, follows three school teachers, in different phases of their lives, who journey to Europe for a "once in a lifetime" trip. One, a divorcee, another a widow, and the last a single, carefree woman who only wants to enjoy her life. In Europe they find love while discovering the paths back to themselves. THE JOURNEY is scheduled for release in June of 2009 in both Ebook and print form - so be on the lookout.

Synopsis
Blindsided by her husband’s infidelity, Rosemary must face the hard truth she’s no longer part of a couple—only single and alone. When her best friend since kindergarten wakens her in the middle of the night with the news her husband has been killed in a car accident, Rosemary’s pain becomes secondary to helping her friend through this tough time. Between the pain of betrayal and the pain of helping her friend cope with the death of a husband she is still very much in love with, Rosemary must find a way to move forward with her own life. To leave the past behind and start anew.
When an young, attractive, full-of-life, new teacher comes to work at the elementary school where Rosemary and Joy teach, Rosemary wants to dislike her because of her youth and attractiveness, but it takes only a few days for Kristen to win Rosemary and Joy over with her exuberance and honesty. The three become good friends, coining themselves as “The Three Musketeers.” When Kristen invites them to Europe on a trip of a lifetime, and after a good deal of badgering and convincing, Rosemary and Joy agree to join her.
Arriving in the City of Lights, the three women are assaulted by very different emotions. Rosemary is filled with excitement, is leery of what the next month holds in store for her, and hides her fear of being a foreigner in a foreign country. The loss of Joy’s husband affects her more deeply than anticipated, as she tries to enjoy the vacation she and her husband had always dreamed of taking together, while Kristen wants only to make memories to last a lifetime in a place where dreams can come true.
As each woman confronts her own fears, dreams, and emotions, what they expect, and what actually happens, emerge as two completely different things.
Rosemary, still smarting from her husband’s betrayal, wants to move on with her life, and where better to do so than in Paris, the City of Lights and love? Against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Louvre, Rosemary allows herself to begin to feel again. When she does, a new world of possibilities opens when Jacques Benoir, a suave, handsome manager at the Louvre, offers her a new chance at love. But is Rosemary ready to take that chance--a chance that could leave her alone and grieving the loss of another love when they have to wave goodbye at the end of their trip?
Sorrow assaults Joy on a daily basis on their arrival in Paris. Hoping to assuage her grief by taking the trip she and Kyle had always planned to take someday before they were old and gray conjures up more ghosts than comfort for Joy. Everything reminds her of Kyle and no matter how hard she tries, she can’t get past missing him. In her pain she lashes out at Rosemary who is allowing herself to move forward with Jacques—no matter how many times Joy reminds her of the dangers and hurt it may cause if she allows herself to become involved with him. A man she doesn’t know and won’t see again when they leave. Feelings of jealousy towards Kristen because she HAS no ties and is able to do whatever she wants with whomever she wants whenever she wants causes friction between the three. She feels like a doting mother, constantly reminding her chicks of the dangers they face by their actions. But she doesn’t want to be anyone’s mother. She just wants the pain of missing Kyle to stop. She wants to begin again, keep Kyle as a warm memory in her heart and mind, and begin to enjoy life again.
Kristen only wants to enjoy the month they have to spend in several of the most exciting cities in the world. Paris, Rome, and Venice become the canvas for a painting in her memory that will have to last a lifetime, and Kristen intends to take full advantage of every opportunity to make those memories vivid and more than memorable.
Each woman grapples with her own desires and emotions as new possibilities in their lives begin to unfold. All they have to do is reach out and take what’s offered. Jacques offers the possibility of new love, but at what cost? Rosemary’s heart? A man of wealth, Jacques promises his love for Rosemary, but even with his money, can they breach the distance of 2,000 miles? And is his love real? Or is he playing her for other reasons? Joy can’t get past her feelings of anger, fear, and missing Kyle. In her anger she confronts the two people trying to bring her out of her despair—can she cross that bridge and pick up the pieces of her life and start again? Perhaps with Tom, the handsome American she meets in Rome who just wants to have a good time and someone to enjoy it with? And will Jay change Kristen’s mind about staying carefree and without any strings attached? He makes her heart soar and she feels things she’s never felt in her twenty-three years. Is he the one that’ll bring her to the ground—and keep her there?
Join Rosemary, Joy, and Kristen as they take Europe by storm, exploring her history as they discover themselves. Join them as they visit the sites of Paris, Rome, and Venice in their journey of discovery to understanding themselves.
