Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Dream Theater (Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence). I also like Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Jaco Pastorius, Rush, Weather Report, Yanni, Michael Gettel, Patrick O'Hearn, Yes, King Crimson, Lars Fredericksen, Coheed & Cambria, and many others.
Film
Favorite movies include the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (BBC mini-series version), the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy, all four Harry Potter flicks, Monty Python (Holy Grail), Office Space, most of the Star Trek movies, and Kevin Smith's "New Jersey Series" (Clerks, Mall Rats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, and Clerks 2).
Televisione
I'll be the first to say that I don't watch a lot of television. I would rather spend my time playing games or writing music. Besides, there's nothing on that I really have an interest in. Every time I go to my parents or my in-laws house, I sit an flip through channels, sometimes for hours, and never find anything interesting. My theory is that cable television has produced so many channels and outlets for shows that everything is getting watered down just to fill up all the space. However, I did enjoy Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: DS9, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Futurama, and South Park all of which I am collecting on DVD. Which brings up another point. Out of a 1 hour television show, there is 15 to 20 minutes of commercials. These waste my time AND try to get me to spend money I don't have.

I'm a big fan of How-To books, particular the idiot's guides and "for Dummies" series. I also like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books and well as The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Currently, I'm grokking "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein.

What to say about me... Well, I'm what some people like to call a Jack-of-all-trades (master of none). Other people might call me a renaissance man. First, I've been a musician for 15+ years now (mostly electric bass, but I've also played guitar, alto sax, tuba, and bassoon). I enjoy writing music and have a solo album that is now posted on this page. I'm also in a progressive punk band that just released our first EP (check out BurningOhio.com for more details). You can check out some of that stuff at Burningohio.com. Second, I like to know how things work. I was always that kid that would take broken things (and sometimes not-so-broken things) apart to see how they worked. Sometimes I managed to fix things, other times, well, we shouldn't talk about those times. Third, I have a Masters Degree in Biology and my "real" job offers me opportunities to work as a botanist and many travel opportunities. Other than those basic aspects of me, I enjoy simple web design, bowling, hiking, camping, and just hanging out with my wife and dogs.

Other than playing with Burning Ohio, I also write a good bit of material on my own. For the most part, it sounds a bit like a cross between New Age and Fusion. Mi piacerebbe conoscere: I'm not much on meeting new people, and I think the whole idea of meeting someone because they're famous or whatever is rather silly. However, I would like to hang out with Victor Wooten for awhile (mainly for bass lessons; I've already met him at a couple of the Flecktones Shows).
