roja-media steht für den Versuch, Bilder so in Bewegung & Szene zu setzten, dass sie berühren!
1998 wurde von den beiden Brüdern Jan & Simon Mühlethaler mit ihrem ersten Skate- und Snowboardvideo der Grundstein dazu gelegt. Erste Veruche im Bereich Kurzfilm und Experimental-Film liessen nicht lange auf sich warten.
Später studierte Jan Mühlethaler am Institut für Medienwissenschaften an der Universität Basel, und an der Fachhochschule für Gestaltung in Bern bei Luki Frieden.
Die beiden Brüder machten sich bald einen Namen in der lokalen Skateboard-Szene mit ihren kompromisslosen und visuel starken Action-Videos.
Es folgten Musikvideos für Berner Bands wie The Chocolate Rockets oder ChooChoo, und den Super8 Kurzfilm Murphys Hotel mit Sebastian Fischer & Leah Inhauser in den Hauptrollen.
Kurz vor Jahresende 2006 nahm Jan Mühlethaler dann die Chance war, bei der renomierten Agentur Die Gestalten in Berlin im Bereich Schnitt & Motion-Design zu arbeiten. Mit dem Schnitt der Reamonn Tour-DVD Wish und dem dazugehörigen Video Serpentine, und Konzertschnitte für Bands wie Mando Diao oder 2raumwohnung konnte er sich aktiv auf professionellem & internationalem Parkett weiter entwickeln. Unvergessen bleibt bestimmt auch der Musivideo-Dreh für Marilyn Manson...
In Eigenregie und erneut unter dem Label roja-media entstand dann Ende 2007 das Musikvideo für die Avantgard Rap-Kombo Kinderzimmer Productions in Berlin. Das verschachtelte Video mit seiner urbanen Bildsprache schaffte es sogar in die Austellung Vertrautes Terrain des renomierten Museums für Medien Kunst (ZKM) in Karlsruhe. Und wurde zudem für das «Musikvideo des Jahres 2008» an den Solothurner Filmtage nominiert.
Zurück in der Schweiz realisierte roja-media Productions zusammen mit seinem Netz an Kreativen verschiedene Arbeiten für Schweizer Agenturen wie Achtung!, Advico, Burson-Marsteller, Top-Fuel und SvensonSuite in Berlin.
So enstanden verschiedene Image-Filme für Swatch, Teile der Sunrise „Free Internet“-Kampagne, das Musikvideo zum DRS3 Sommer-Hit von Electric Blanket, und der Kurzfilm Spiegelung, welcher am Berner Kurzfilmfestival shnit 2008 Premiere feierte!
Zurzeit wird an einem Kurzfilm mit den beiden Schauspieler Aron Hitz & Michael Glatthard und dem visuellen Look von filewile gearbeitet.

roja-media tries to set pictures in motion and scene, pictures that touch your feelings.
In 1998 the two brothers Jan and Simon Mühlethaler set a beginning of the company roja-media with their first skate and snowboardvideo. Shortly after they tried to do short film and experimental film.
Jan Mühlethaler studied later at the Institute of Media sciences at the University of Basel and at the college in artistic subject in Berne under the direction of Luki Frieden.
The two brothers set a mark in the local skateboard scene with their fresh and undogmatic visual action-videos.
Shortly after Jan Mühlethaler produced music videos for bands of Berne like The Chocolate Rockets or ChooChoo, and also a Super 8 shortfilm called Murphy Hotel with Sebastian Fisher and Leah Inhauser in the leading characters.
Before the end of 2006 Jan Mühlethaler had the chance to work for the wellknown agency called Die Gestalten in Berlin. He worked for the cutting and Motion Design department. With the montage of the Reamonn TourDVD Wish and its Video Serpentine, concertcuts for bands like Mando Diao or 2raumwohnungen, he could develop himself actively on the professional and international level and parquet. The musicvideo for Marilyn Manson will centainly remain unforgettable.
Directed by himself and again under the roja-media label the musicvideo for the avantgard rappers Kinderzimmer Production in Berlin got produced at the end of 2007. The complex video with its strong picture language managed even to be shown in the exhibition Vertrautes Terrain of the wellknown museum for media art (ZKM) in Karlsruhe! And has been nominated for „Best Swiss Music Video 2008“ at the Solothurner Filmtage.
Back in Switzerland roja-media Productions did profit of their creative net and carried out different productions for Swiss agencies like Achtung!, Advico, Burson-Marsteller, Top-Fuel and SvensonSuite in Berlin.
Various image films got created for Swatch, parts of the Sunrise campaign „Free Internet“, the musicvideo to the DRS3 summer hit of Electric Blanket and the shortfilm Spiegelung which had its premiere at the Bernese shortfilmfestival „shnit“ in 2008!
At the moment a shortfilm with the two actors Aron Hitz & Michael Glatthard and the visual apperance for filewile are in process.
