Birmingham Weekly “Menu of Menus” 2003:
Rojo is red hot and their margarita business bustles after work as people gather to watch the sun set over Rushton Park. The patio, complete with ceiling fans and Christmas lights, provides a nice place to watch dog walkers wind along Highland Avenue. Inside, you’ll find a casual order-at-the-register system for both Latin and American cuisine. Regardless of where you sit, you can’t escape Paul Wilm’s painting of a gun-slinging, bandana-wearing amigo that rests against the wall of wine shelves. And a trip to the bathroom is like a trip around the world, what with the dozens of National Geographic magazine covers that paper the walls. Paella, chorizo tacos, chipotle pork and mushroom burritos, barbecue burritos and fried chicken soft tacos are just a few menu choices that keep the locals coming back.
