Producer/Instrumentalist, el diablo comes San Francisco's acclaimed dj collective Dhamaal Soundsystem, which quickly garnered international attention with their self-titled debut album and single releases, remixes and airplay on the BBC 1. His production work with Josh Meltzer and Sukhawat Ali-Khan of dhamaal helped to win them the top prize in the John Lennon songwiritng contest World Music category in 2005. His beat production and Bass work is seen on various current releases in the US and Japan.
When these two artists from vastly different musical backgrounds came together, they found themselves beating ancient rhythms with electronic sticks, wailing soul riffs on metal tuned guitars. Channeling KRS one, Jack White and Stevie Wonder through one vocalist. Part human, part midi cable & part nothing of this world, AWS and el diabo deftly weave together layers of harmony, rhythm and rhyme to create the apocalyptic-rock hip hop sound known as Rojo Y Negro.
