This is the story of Roky Erickson: manic frontman for the legendary band The 13th Floor Elevators, creators of psychedelic music and muse to Janis Joplin. YOU’RE GONNA MISS ME is a disturbingly intimate portrait of an imploding family and the struggle between modernized medicine and religion.
Known for his colossal heroin & LSD binges, struggles with "schizophrenia", and an unthinkable term at Rusk Hospital for the Criminally Insane, Roky went missing from the world.
YOU’RE GONNA MISS ME reveals the shocking & triumphant truth behind one of Rock’s great mysteries.
THANKS all for your love and support of Roky... and for your appreciation of Keven's excellent moviemaking!
One thing that is not stated that I wish everyone could know: my house in Pittsburgh was designed by our father Roger L. Erickson. This was sadly not mentioned in the movie and then left out of the movie and DVD credits. Our father was a genius architect and designed a masterpiece that I was blessed to live in for 6 1/2 years and Roky for 13 months. May Dad gain his recognition and may he also RIP (he died two years ago yesterday).
Come see us open for legendary '60s garage punks GONN at Off Broadway in St. Louis on January 5th! The Vultures are also on the bill... Click the web flyer for more info:
