About me:
Record Producer and Mixing Engineer Roland Lim started his music career from the age of 8, taking classical piano for 8 years and eventually completing his
Grade 5 piano exams.
He moved to Perth, Western Australia at the age of 16 to further his studies and recorded his band’s (Seraphim) EP after learning from Producers such as
Alfredo Malebello , Adam Spark and Jeremy Allom and achieving a high distinction in his University’s Sound production course.
With the success of Seraphim’s EP, Roland was soon approached by upcoming local bands in the Perth Music Scene to record their demos and EPs. One of those
bands was Dyscord, whose mate Stuart Ainsworth had a recording studio without a producer or sound engineer. Roland was hired as the head producer and
engineer of Aussie Assault Studios.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Media from Murdoch University and the disbanding of Seraphim, Roland concentrated and honed his
craft for producing and recording full time, whilst learning from top producers in UK and US. From behind the desk he had his hand in several of the most
significant Perth releases in 2006 and got more and more work as word of mouth spread.
Roland has often been dubbed as a perfectionist by the bands he records and his humorous personality and upbeat work ethic serve as the perfect antithesis to
the stressful environment of being in a recording studio.
He is also a multi-instrumentalist and has sessioned on numerous recordings and is often asked by bands to provide piano and string arrangements on their
songs. He is proficient in guitar , bass , piano and drums/beat programming and his strength lies in his ability to instinctively know what his clients’
demands are and being able to meet them with precision and speed.
Roland is currently serving his nation as an Artiste [sound tech] in the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company where he does Live sound and PA
setups for the various roadshows and skits by the Company’s artistes. He continues to freelance as a Record producer and mix engineer in his own studio and
is currently working with a number of upcoming Singapore and overseas bands.
