Myspace Backgrounds
July 2008. Roly Skender and The Tonics were in the midst of storming through Japan on their Shakin' Up tour. It was serendipitous that the aptly named party would hit the northern city of Sendai the day after an earthquake, large enough to bounce their booking agent out of bed. That night's show would be one of their most energetic to date.
They'd been impressed by many Japanese bands in recent nights, humbled by their dedication to authentic Rock 'n' Roll. As a consequence Roly Skender and The Tonics would create a new manifesto, perfectly encapsulated in one word... Ultrarockrock.
On their return it was agreed to start recording immediately. Numerology determined the first session on 8th August, 2008 and within a few days the band had sketched a brand new album.
The momentum continued for another two months, culminating in the Grand Prize at that West Australian night of nights, the 2008 WAM Song of the Year. “Feel”, a big, marvellously distinctive song had resonated with the judges in just the right way.
The latest tracks on this release have been handpicked by Roly Skender and The Tonics from their forthcoming album. They are best listened to at the drive-in theatre on the other side of the moon.
