Hailing originally from the dregs of south orange county, RoMak & the Space Pirates formed and soon turned into an experiment flexibly within the rhealm of electro music. With music as exhuberent yet provokative as the band members themselves, the group released 'The Long Walk' EP in 2005, followed by subsequent demo 'The Universe is too SMALL' in 2006, finally releasing their opus full length album 'Attack of the Has-Been Androids,' in 2008, which they had originally intended to and attempted twice previously to assemble. 'Attack of the Has-Been Androids' was released both online and in the controversial and experimental form of wearable USB flash drive bracelets, containing the album as well as liner notes and artwork. The latter incarnation of the release was noted in LA Weekly's music blog.
The band caught the attention of LA Weekly again weeks later with their video homage to Rick Astley's classic (and recently revived) "Never Gonna Give You Up" displaying the Space Pirates' reinterpretation of the song and music video. The cover is to be featured in the upcoming online split with Northern California's Vyncent Flaw, who also has an enthusiastic cult online following and similar obsession with memes. RoMak & the Space Pirates are also in the collecting stages of a remix album sequel to the last, to be titled 'Revenge of the Has-Been Androids' featuring a range of local and international artists reworking the group's songs.
The Space Pirates have also been noted in Blender Magazine, OC Weekly, LA Record, Citizen LA and many more printed and online publications. They continue to find different facets through which to expand upon their unique approach to electropop music.
RoMak & the Space Pirates has shared concert bills with a myriad of eclectic acts such acts as Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Violent Femmes, Unwritten Law, Berlin, Gene Loves Jezebel, Vyncent Flaw, Sugar Ray, Jeffree Star, The 88, Lit, The English Beat, the Psychedelic Furs, the Colour, Martyr Plot (featuring Ginger Fish of Marilyn Manson), Union 13, Go Betty Go, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Nervous Gender, and Reel Big Fish
They have performed many charity events for organizations including The American Cancer Society, Friends of the Public Library and World Can't Wait.
They have also made appearances on various television programs such as the Dr. Phil Show and 'Queer Edge' featuring Sandra Bernhardt. They have graced the pages of Blender Magazine and were once in an Ima Robot music video, even though Ima Robot didn't exactly ask them to be in it.

SUNDRY TESTIMONIALS:
"...Los Angeles electro jazz punk quartet with a squid fetish...A blast!"
-Blender Magazine
"Stand out opening band Romak & the Space Pirates musically redeemed the evening, performing catchy, original glam/electro with ernest showmanship and intelligent frivolity. Backed by keys and beats from psychedelic impresario D. Bene Tleilax, Romak's voice is better than on their recordings, a rare thing in this age of pitch correct and overdub."
-LA Record
Local band Romak & the Space Pirates might have the answer. The electro-rock outfit released its full-length Attack of the Has-Been Androids last year and has been exploring different album formats ever since. Most recently, the four-piece stumbled upon an unusual concept, a wearable, multi-purpose album.
-LA Weekly
RoMak & the Space Pirates may seem like a fanciful moniker, but in truth, it's a pretty straight-up description of the band that bears it. Playing glitchy, kitschy, robo-pop ditties for the sweaty, coiffed masses, the OC-based, electro-punk crew looks and sounds like it just gave Flock of Seagulls a wicked parking-lot smackdown.
-flavorpill
"RoMak & the Space Pirates carry the torch for epic new wave in the tradition of bands like Wall of Voodoo and Oingo Boingo, while remaining distinctly original. Part carnival antics, part insane asylum capers, with an image vaguely reminiscent of the Color Kids from Rainbow Bright, Romak & the Space Pirates excel at writing catchy, tongue-in-cheek tunes."
-The Deli Magazine
"Like swing dancing with Gary Numan while drunk on absinthe at Kirk Cameron's birthday party, these guys have created something great out of a time machine of randomness."
-Rock City News
"RoMak & the Space Pirates has a lot to offer the world musically...and they rock live!"
-Ginger Fish, drummer; Marilyn Manson
"These are not just four "dudes" who hang out in their parents' garage and play music when the urge strikes them. They are creators raising a separate being."
-Music Matters Magazine
"The band has good reason to be confident."
-Orange Appeal Magazine
"I really enjoyed the set, which seemed to fall somewhere between punk rock and performance art."
-thepeoplesdanceparty.com
"I like RoMak's look!"
-Mark Mcgrath, singer; Sugar Ray
"RoMak & the Space Pirates makes thought provoking music that challenges the listener to take a look around at his/her reality and question what they perceive."
-thebullhorn.net
"...four guys with mohawks and skinny ties."
-OC Weekly
"...a refreshing change of pace..."
-Redefine Magazine
"I loved your CD!"
-Terri Nunn, singer; Berlin
"The Universe may not be big enough for them."
-Adelphia Cable's 'The Scene'

OUT NOW! 'Fulltilt EP' from Glasgow outfit Mr Hajika.
4 slabs of groove driven tech house...
Fulltilt original is a chugging, bass heavy track with a subtle musicality that develops throughout. Dr. Bergers remix is a stripped down deeper edit, with an infectious flow that maintains the essence of the original. Similarly to Dr. Berger, Alex Fiction strips back the layers to uncover an electronic soul which builds into an intelligently emotive interpretation, if slightly twisted. Completing the package is 'Nitemoves' which shares the big sound of Fulltilt, but with a more progressive, melodic vibe."
