Roman Holiday is an Alternative/Pop/Rock band from the Seattle/Tacoma area. They blend driving rock music, captivating melodies and emotion-driven vocals to create a powerfully unique sound; A sound that is rarely heard on a local level, but one that will leave you humming the tunes as though you've heard them before.
The band formed in September 2008 with the input and involvement of Producer Mark Simmons, owner of Pacific Studios, in Tacoma, WA. Since then Roman Holiday has, in a very short time, taken some surprisingly large strides, placing themselves directly into the center of the music world. They spent the first few months after their conception, focusing on writing. The decision was made to hold off on booking shows, and with a clear schedule and a state-of-the-art studio at their fingertips, Roman Holiday began to record. By 2009 the band had hit the stage. They began to captivate audiences at clubs and theaters all over the northwest with their refined but yet natural live rock show. The band quickly became known for their timeless, "next big band" sound. By May 2009, phase one of the recording process had come to a close and Roman Holiday released their first self-titled E.P.
The band is currently in the studio writing, rehearsing, and recording for their upcoming full-length album, due out early 2010. They are also continuing to play and book shows throughout the northwest.

Roman Holiday was born in the studio

While searching MySpace for local music — as I do from time to time — I stumbled across Roman Holiday and was promptly knocked for a loop. Theirs is a slick indie rock sound so pristine, so flawless, that it quite frankly made me upset. Making matters worse is the band’s baffling history: They’ve been together just barely a year, and before that the members didn’t really know each other. Roman Holiday’s first few months together were spent writing and recording their startlingly professional EP, and only after that did they start performing. The group was assembled with the help of a producer.
It’s all so fishy.
Having spoken with the band, however, I now know they didn’t set out to ruin my day.
“I [work] at a recording studio here in Tacoma called Pacific Studios,” says frontman Shane Lance. “Myself and the owner had talked about putting a project together, for the last few years. He brought this group of guys in and [we] jammed and it just felt like a right fit.”
It’s starting to make more sense.
“I think it’s put us under a bit of a greenhouse, musically,” Lance says. “Being able to record every practice and the fact that the studio is kind of our home … It’s allowed us to grow and become what we are before we present it to people.”
To be succinct, Roman Holiday is lucky enough to have happened upon a position where the band can completely and totally work out the kinks before anyone lays eyes on them — as opposed to a band finding itself through performance.
Roman Holiday will attest, however, to the quality of its live show. “If we can’t replicate it live, then we’re not going to put it out,” says Lance.
If that’s the case, then this is an exciting band. For all the merits of Roman Holiday’s clean production and pitch-perfect indie-ness, this giant music may be best experienced live, with fists pumping in air.
“This is the kind of band that makes me love my job...their work is intelligent, gloriously well-crafted, and fun. From years of pushing all kinds of music to the masses, I’ve met many groups who qualified for “that next step”, but few are able to leave the huge purgatory filled with other capable musical aspirants; I think Roman Holiday is already in ascent. See and hear them soon!”

and his faith in the local Music Scene just restored.
"The band Roman Holiday is good. Real good. I did and will again pay money to watch them play. There's a chemistry there that just kinda seems to bleed into the crowd and people feed off that stuff. Great original writing, extremely sing-able music, a very complete skill set among the players... Buy the CD. Get these guys' music while it's cheap because they could be headed for much bigger and better things if the chips fall just right."
